The nurse bit her lip, messing up his hair a little as she looked at the bandage. "I'm guessing you did this? Not too bad, kid. " She murmered as she continued to look. "I think he may have a concussion, not positive, but it's highly likely.." She turned to Ash. "You can go back to class, do you need me to write you a pass?"
-
Ash blushed a little. "Thanks..." She was going to mention her desire to be a nurse, but thought better of it. "Oh no... Is he going to be okay? And no.." She held up her bathroom pass. "Thank you."
-
"Okay. Thanks for helping out." She said with a nod, scooping the boy up into her arms. "I'm sure he'll be fine after a week or two, if he does have a concussion." With that, she walked into her office and layed the boy down on the small cot, taking papers out of her drawer to look for the boy's parent's phone number.
-
Ash's eyes widened and she trailed after the nurse. "Um...do you mind if I stick around?"
-
The nurse pondered over that before nodding, pulling out the boy's parent's information. "As long as you don't blame me if your teachers get upset," she said with a small laugh, typing the boy's parent's phone number in. It rang two times before a woman's voice answered. "Hello, is this Arturo's mother?" Pause. "Yes, I have found Jesus..? I'm just here to inform you that-" Pause. "Yes, I've been saved.." The nurse rolled her eyes, listening to his mother go on.
-
Ash muttered something about not studying and acing the final, but under her breath. Ash couldn't help grinning and had to cover her mouth to stop her laughter. She made a face at the nurse and crossed herself like a Catholic.
-
The nurse tapped her foot against the floor and sighed deeply. "Look, I'm not here to talk about religion with you. Your son has passed out from pain-" Long pause. "Mrs.Day, he can't pray if he's passed out and that isn't going to help right now-" Pause. "I'm sorry if I have offended you but if you would please come down to the school-" And Arturo's mother hung up. The nurse huffed, setting down the phone. "I guess I'll have to treat him myself until the end of the day if she won't come.."
-
Ash shook her head. "Seriously, some people.. But, he'll be okay, right?"
-
The nurse bit her lip, thinking. "I assume so, it doesn't look that bad. Some people just aren't good with pain." She said with a small laugh, leaning foward and placing her hand gently against the bandagaes. Arturo's bright eyes fluttered open and he let out a little groan. "Morning, sunshine. Have some painkillers." She grabbed the bottle and took out two and handed the to him with a glass of water. Arturo took them quickly and gulped down some water, slowly sitting up.
-
Ash quickly scooted closer to her attractive classmate, worry written all over her face. She was about to ask him something, when she figured she shouldn't interrupt the nurse's work. She pursed her lips and just stared worriedly at Arturo.
-
The nurse backed away and grabbed a few papers, heading towards the door. "I'll be back in about a half hour, have to fill out an accident sheet at the office." She gave them a small smile before closing the door behind her. Arturo let out a slight groan, rubbing his temples with his fingers. "Dude, shouldn't you be in class? I'm not holding you up, am I?"
-
Ash nodded at the nurse and turned back to Arturo. She quickly shook her head "no, I learned all that s--- over the summer. I'm going to switch. Just gotta take the placement test. It's fine." She sighed when she realized how much she was talking and stared at her hands.
-
Arturo listened and nodded, understanding. He didn't really know how it felt to be smart, but whatever. "You know, your voice is a little high pitched for a guy's voice. It's kinda cute," he said with a smirk. He had always been known to be a flirt and he kept that reputation wherever he went.
-
Ash unsuccessfully tried to blush, staring intently at the floor. "Yeah.. I dunno why... It's weird, isn't it?"
-
"Not really. Frankly, I find it adorable. And so are your soft, tiny girl hands," he said beaming, taking Ash's hand and stroking it with his thumb. "I don't know what lotion you use, but it's working."
