"Then I must fulfill your wish." He simply said before leaving. It hurt him to have her snap at him, but he wouldn't show it. He pushed past the crew who threw question at him. Philip shrugged them off until he got to his cabin.
-
Janette held it together until he was out the door. And then she broke, pulling her knees to her chest, sobbing loudly. He really didn't care, then, she supposed. It made sense. As she was no longer carrying his son, he really didn't have a reason to.
-
Maybe a little whiskey would take his mind off of her. He replayed their conversation in his head, analyzing what she possibly meant. Maybe she was just stressed? Or maybe she just wanted to be more independent. He sighed and sat on the edge of his bed.
-
She finally decided to get up, and undressed, grabbing on of the dresses she had been in the back of the room, slipping it on. Then, she combed out her hair with her fingers, staring at herself in the mirror. Inhaling a bit, she left the room, going down to where the crew slept- It smelled of men, but, it was for that very reason she was there. Philip needed to know that she wasn't his to order around, and another man was just the answer to that.
-
(omg I see XD I had to reread that)
Philip went to the kitchen and grabbed a whiskey bottle, and rushed back to his cabin, not wanting to talk to anyone.
Eric sat with the other men, practically gossiping like women. "I say someone should go talk to him." Said one of the older men. Eric shook his head. "He's probably drunk by now, trying to get his mind off of it." They nodded in agreement. -
It took her a moment to find that only one of the bunks had a human in it. A younger boy, newest to the crew. He was reading, using one of the precious few candles they had. "You really shouldn't waste them, you know," She informed him, enjoying his surprise, and the way he jumped up, slamming the book shut. "It's much easier to go on deck and read by the sun. Unless, you know, you're trying to avoid people. Like me," All while she said this, she was moving closer to her, and then sitting on the edge of the bed, next to him, taking the book. "..You know, this is one of a whole series? I had it at home. He's a wonderful writer."
-
In a few gulps the brown bottle was already half-way empty. He eyed it before setting it down. Maybe... He would return her to the village she came from. She couldn't possibly want to be with him after he offered to 'help' her. What good was a woman that complained? He huffed at his own thoughts, and took another swing of his drink.
-
The boy said nothing, so Janette sighed, moving forward to kiss him. It wasn't anything like kissing Philip, her heart wasn't in it. But, as kisses went, it was okay.
And, later, as sex went, it was okay. Still not Philip, she found herself thinking, though, and when they were done, a pulse of guilt hit her, but she stayed where she was, curled under the blankets with a man she had never spoken to before. -
He felt dizzy again, along with that rush of energy. Just hold it together. Hold it in. He layed back in his bed, fidgeting like a young child who couldn't wait for something exciting.
-
After the man fell asleep, Janette rose, slipping on her dress, returning to the deck, and to Philip's room. She knocked, though, and whispered a soft, "Philip?"
-
He always got weird after drinking. Weird was the word. He looked up at the sudden knock and blinked. "Come in, Janette." He knew it was her by the voice; She and Matilda were the only women on the ship, and Matilda didn't sound that way.
-
She entered, shutting the door behind her, lingering next to it before moving over towards him. Noticing the near-empty bottle, she frowned, and picked it up. "You were drinking, then.." And then, she tilted her head back, downing the rest of it, making a face as she sat the empty bottle down. "Ew."
-
One hand rested on his stomach, while the other lay under his head. "I don't suppose you've come for nothing." He muttered. The room seemed to sway back and forth, but not like the ship moving.
-
"No," She mumbled, taking a moment to let the taste settle in her mouth. "I just wanted to let you know.. I do love you, Philip, I really do. But you can't order me about."
-
He didn't bother looking up, instead, poking at his hard stomach. "Mhm, I know. I'm not really trying order you around, more like keep you from dying again. I have things to do, Janette. We can't keep playing that game were I keep saving you. My job is pirating: I sometimes raid villages, take jewels and money, explore and map places. I have things to do. "
