"I was planning on it," He muttered, yawning softly. Slowly, he relaxed, going limp with sleep, his hand and head still resting on his captor's chest.
He dreamed not of David, but of Edward- What it would be like to live with the man. Not on the ship, or course, Maurice wouldn't be able to do that. But getting a house in some big town, settling down, maybe adopting a child or two. -
Edward smiled and relaxed, letting his eyes drift closed as he surrendered to sleep as well. There was a knife in his discarded jacket pocket, but he didn't think much of it. Maurice seemed exhausted, and some small part of him hoped that even if Mayrice found the knife, he wouldn't hurt him.
-
Maurice woke in the dead of night. He didn't move, but his eyes opened, and it took him a moment to remember where he was. He was naked, in bed with a man that wasn't David. He felt a pang of guilt race through him as he recalled all that had happened the night before, the pain radiating from his butt reminding him fully.
And then his plan popped into his mind. He needed to kill the man that had killed David. He needed to end this, right now.
No. He wouldn't- Not tonight, anyways, after what they had done. Instead, he slipped out of bed- Careful not to wake the still-sleeping man- Wrapped himself in a blanket, and headed out of the cabin, and onto the deck. Only one sailor was there, sitting silently behind the wheel. He gazed at Maurice, but didn't move, so the blonde found his way to the side of the ship, peering over the railing and into the dark waters.
(Sailor guy needs to attack him) -
"You're out late, aren't you?" The sailor asked, rising from his place behind the wheel. He took a step towards Maurice. "You know, it's not safe out here. Should've stayed back in bed with your precious Edward." His smirk made it clear that he had heard the noises from their earlier activities, and he absent-mindedly twirled a knife between his fingers. "You know, it's been a while since I've had any target practice," He speculated, still spinning the blade. He suddenly narrowed his eyes and took another step forward.
-
Maurice tried to ignore the man, keeping his eyes on the water. When he heard approaching footsteps, though, he turned around, using the rail behind him to steady himself. Clearly, the man knew of his and Edward's relationship. And clearly, this man wasn't the kind of person who would leave Maurice alone if he asked. So, he started sliding along the rail, in the direction of Edward's cabin. He didn't speak, but kept his eyes on the knife, holding the blanket to him with one hand.
-
"Come on, you wanna help me out?" The sailor kept approaching, putting on a fake-friendly smile. "Just because Edward captured you doesn't mean you have to spend all your time with him." He inched closer and smirked. "I bet I could make you scream even louder than Edward can," He said with another smirk.
Inside the cabin, Edward stirred slightly, hearing a bit of commotion outside. Still half asleep, he rolled over and sighed, hoping whatever was going on outside would quiet down soon. -
"I don't think I can help you with that," He mumbled, continuing to edge towards the cabin, still staring wearily at the knife. He realized, though, that the man would intercept him before he could make it there.
In a flash of courage, he stopped moving, forming a plan in his head. -
"Come on, sure you can." He said with a grin, though Maurice's quiet resistance was beginning to annoy him. He saw the blonde pause and wondered if he had actually changed his mind.
Edward rolled over again and his eyes flashed open, realizing that Maurice was no longer in the bed, or even in the cabin. He quickly stood up and pulled his pants back on, stretching. He was slightly concerned, knowing what the other crew members might try to do to Maurice if the captain himself wasn't there to stop it. -
"No, I.. Can't!" With that word, he threw the blanket that had been covering him at the man, and make a bolt for the captain's room, ignoring the cold air hitting his private parts.
-
Edward opened the door just as Maurice made a dash for his cabin. He nearly ran right into Maurice, but narrowly avoided a collision. He nudged the blonde behind him and raised an eyebrow at the other sailor, who had pulled the blanket off of himself and was looking quite displeased. "You've got your own toys to play with." He said in low, almost warning voice. The sailor looked like he wanted to object, but in the end he grumbled an apology and walked off, back to the wheel. Edward turned around to face Maurice and studied him closely. "Are you alright? He didn't...touch you, did he?"
-
Maurice shook his head. "No," He said, and then, without thinking, threw himself into the pirate's chest, sobbing softly. The tears were uncalled for, but he couldn't help it- With all that had happened, so much had built up inside him, and he found himself unable to stop, clinging to the man that had caused all of this, as if he were the only person in the world.
-
Edward froze for a moment, but when he heard a soft sob from Maurice he gently wrapped his arms around him. At first he thought Maurice was simply crying because the sailor had frightened him, but then he paused to remember everything the man had been through. Losing David, being kidnapped, the nightmares...He held him a little tighter and sighed. "I'm sorry..."
-
Maurice shook his head at Edward's words, wanting to tell him that it was okay, but knowing good and well that it wasn't, it would never be- Still, tough, it could have been worse. Edward wasn't unkind to him, and he wasn't making Maurice do anything he didn't want to. He should thank him for saving him. He should tell him he was okay.
Instead, though, all he said was "Can we go inside?" -
Edward nodded, letting go of Maurice. He gently led him inside and quietly closed the door. He eyed Maurice with a mixture of pity and uncertainty. He wanted to comfort Maurice, but it didn't come naturally. He also wasn't even sure Maurice would want any comforting from him.
-
Maurice stared at the ground, setting himself on the bed. He inhaled softly, wanting this all to end. Without thinking, he asked softly, "Will ou let me go at the next stop? Please, Edward. I don't.. I don't want to live on a ship."
