"Oh, J...why?" She breathed, her eyes glued to the scars. Her soft, pale hands held his gently.

"Um..well..You'll see..eventually.." He didn't want to talk about it.

Lucy sniffed and let go of his hands. "Okay. Just...don't do anything stupid, okay?" She wouldn't meet his gaze. She didn't want to lose her first friend here already.

J nodded in promise. He pushed her lightly. "Race ya there!" He bolted off.

Lucy giggled and raced after him. "No fair, you got a head start!"

"So?" He laughed

"So no fair!" She laughed with him.

"Oh well.." J's voice turned lower as he looked up to see his least favorite person.

"Who's that?" Lucy asked, stopping and looking at the other person.
