J just plainly shook his head.

Lucy huffed. "Fine. But I'll find out what you're hiding at some point!" She promised.

"What would I be hiding?" James asked cooly, meeting her eyes.

"I dunno. That's why I wanna see." She answered.

"I'm not hiding anything."

"Prove it. Show me your wrist." Lucy insisted. They were almost at the school.

"Why, don't you trust me?" He put a hand on her shoulder, and looked into her eyes.

Lucy blushed slightly and glanced away. "I...I just met you. I don't know if I can trust you yet." What if he was just like every other person? What if he was going to betray her and beat her and... She shuddered.

J sighed, scanning her eyes. He rolled up his sleeves and showed her his wrists.

She gasped and covered her mouth with one hand. With her other hand she reached out and gently traced a finger over the scars. "Oh my god..."

J flinched slightly, already regretting his decsion.
