"Then I'm so lucky to have ended up with you." There was a hint of sarcasm to her voice, but she meant no harm.
-
He rolled his eyes and muttered under his breath. He kept walking.
-
"I... Tell me about yourself. Please." She walked alongside him, his strides were longer than hers and it was kind of hard to keep up.
-
He glanced at her. "Nothing really to tell about my life, I was orphaned on the streets at five. I became a thief and pickpocket after my teacher passed me the torch when he retired at the age of ten. And that's about it."
-
"I'm sorry." She frowned. "I... I didn't really have a fantastic childhood either."
-
He shook his head lightly. "You don't have to tell me about it."
-
"I was never strong enough to do anything. I was always too sick or too weak. I ended up doing magic because it was what healed me, and what I needed to regularly use to make myself strong enough to leave my bed." She kind of wished he'd slow down a bit.
-
He noticed she was having a trouble keeping up with him and he slowed to a walk. "I see."
-
"What do you do when you aren't stealing everything? By the way, that wand you grabbed last night... totally useless to you."
-
"I usually go around and look for more jobs. I don't really care, some other warlock wanted it. Considering you took it from me so I couldn't give it to him and I couldn't finish my job."
-
"I don't know why he would... each magical person creates their own. It slowly starts to disappear after their death. It was my teacher's, and he... he just died yesterday. I suppose it may have held a trace of his abilities, and he was powerful enough that I could see someone wanting it for that... It'll be gone, though, by the time we get back." She was grateful that he'd slowed down, and walked along beside him. She retrieved her own wand from her person. "This one is mine."
-
He shrugged. "Maybe he thought he could use the last of the power in it."
-
She shrugged. "Who knows." She gently tapped his shoulder with her own wand, but made sure not to cast any spells.
-
He looked at her. "What?"
-
"I don't know. I never use it anymore. I don't really need it, but it's kind of fun." She reached up, tapped the top of his head, and ran ahead before he could do anything.
