"You could've gone." He told her as he got in and buckled up again. "I have inhuman speed, ya know. I would've caught up."

"I didn't want you to think I abandoned you." Before she started the car, she leaned over to his side and flipped down the visor, looking in its mirror. Even though the vampire was sitting right next to her, she was the only one who appeared in the mirror.

He chuckled softly and took the chance to bury his face in her hair a bit. "You should take this braid out for a bit." He smirked playfully.

"Maybe I will." She sat up and kissed him on the cheek. In the mirror, she was gently pressing her lips up against the air.

"Then allow me..." He murmured and reached up to carefully take out the hair tie that kept her braid in place. He was gentle as his fingers carefully separated the twisted hair, releasing waves that formed from being in the same style for so long. "There.."

"Thank you." She smiled. Her hair was naturally curly without a braid.

"..Yeah.." He mumbled, his voice distant, as he looked at how different it felt to see her with her hair down.

She flipped up the visor and went back to sitting upright. "I'm getting hungry, ready to keep going?"

He looked up at her and gave a firm nod, settling back in his seat.

She started the car and drove off.

He reached over to take her hand again. "..What time is it?"

She looked at the little digital clock. "Uh... 3:13."

"How much longer until we get to your uncle's? I'd really like it if you got some rest after eating, so you have strength and energy."

"Probably two hours. But I'd like to stop somewhere for tonight so I don't look like I've been sleeping in the back of an SUV for the past few nights."

"Whatever makes you comfortable. A bed to sleep in would actually be quite nice."
