He wasn't there. "Where is Master Blackwater..?"

A door opened on the other side of the room and Gregory walked into the dining hall. He was dressed in an old black suit. He sat down at the last chair at the end of the table. "Well. Aren't you going to sit?"

"Uh, yes." She sat at the opposite end of the table.

A few swirls came around and placed many items of food onto the table. One swirl placed a bowl of soup in front of Gregory. He nodded. "thank you."

"And you still won't tell me how you did that?" she asked, watching the wisps.

He chuckled lightly. "I'd rather not explain it. It would be...very complicating for you."

"Well, alright, I suppose." She wasn't sure what to say next.

He sighed and started eating silently. The swirls disappeared quickly. "Why are you traveling alone?"

Time to give him the most boring, somewhat sad story. You can do this. "I was visiting my mother's parents, who live in another kingdom. My mother was their only child, and she's... not around to care for them anymore." It was somewhat true.

He hmed lightly as he listened. "Interesting." He swirled around the wine he had in his glass.

"I would've traveled with my father or a brother or uncle or male cousin, but I don't have any of those, either. Both of my parents died five years ago, leaving me to take care of my three younger sisters. The oldest turned nine last week," she said, smiling weakly at the last part.

"Well happy late birthday to her." He took a drink from his wine glass and set it down. "So that is why you decided to travel alone."

She nodded, not making eye contact.

"Aren't you going to eat anything girl?" He pointed at the food in front of her.

She nodded, taking a bite from her meal.
