"This one," points to the limp puma. "Took Kala away. Zhale went after them and then Kala got hurt I'm not sure how but when I came to get her.. Those two were fighting." Nods at Zhale. "I brought Kala here and then when I saw Zhale in his mouth.. I kinda snapped and pulled him away and he died from major blood loss." He lowers himself tiredly to his haunches and looks at her warerly.
-
Kala stared at the bloody mess before her, trembling like a leaf. "Why..." she gasped in a whisper. "Why..."
-
"I'm sorry..." Zhale gasped, sputtering for breath now. "S-Sorry."
-
He nudged his mate out if the den. "Let them be." He said quietly and whisked outside. He let out a long breath.
-
Shira glanced at him worriedly. "Are you alright...?"
-
Kala turned to Zhale with not an icy stare, but a disappointed one. Without a word she crawled away. Not to X's den.
Away. -
Zhale could feel the life draining from him now. "Kala..." He breathed.
-
X watched Kala slink away and he sighed again before looking towards Shira. "I've failed." He said simple. "Zhale might die.. Kala looks like she's leaving." Frowns and nuzzles his mate.
-
Kala hated to see Zhale with such sorrowful looks of regret. She didn't want him to feel this way, but she didn't want to face him, either.
Then her thoughts steered towards the sharp pains. Would they ever end??
Clinging to a large boulder in her path, Kala sank to the ground and cried. "Zhale don't die!!" she screamed to the suffocating loneliness. "Don't die!" -
THE 400th POST!!!)

Yay!!)
Zhale closed his eyes as his breathing slowed. For a heart-stopping moment she thought the puma was dead, but he shifted slightly, only sleeping. She turned back to X. "He'll be okay." She nuzzled him. "I'm so proud of you. Helping everyone, even though they had their doubts. It's amazing how far we've come." -
Kala wondered whether she should return to Zhale or not. She respected him unconditionally, even though he could be a little quick to react at times.
Heaving herself forward, she found herself crawling back to Zhale. -
X watched Kala and gentle pushed her forward towards Zhale. He looked at Shira, "I need to help." He said simple. "I'm the leader right?" He have her a tired smile.
-
Kala sighed, laying down next to Ezmere. "Ez..." she sobbed mournfully. She touched her scraped forehead to his cold, stiff one. "Oh, Ez... this is all my fault..."
She warily lifted her head, thinking about what she would say to her mother. SOMEone had to look after her. -
Shira smiled back. "Yes, you are. But that doesn't mean you carry the fate of every puma on your shoulders." She stepped closer, and when she spoke it was in a stubborn, yet still caring tone. "I love you, and I'm here to help. You're not alone."
Zhale lay, still asleep.
Gress, who had been trekking through the tunnels in search of a meal, spotted Kala and rushed over. He shifted his form to a tall, muscular puma, with sandy brown fur and piercing golden eyes. "Dear, dear girl. What's the matter?" He asked in a soothing tone.
