I took another deep breath, sighing it out. "I'll tell him later." I managed with a weak laugh. "In the mean time, I'd like to wash my hands..." I regarded the bloody stained with a disgusted expression.
-
I looked around. "Can you stand up?" Carefully, I slid out from under her, hovering protectively.
-
"I'm not sure." I replied uncertainly. I grab onto Will, who had his hand stuck out to pull me up. "Thanks." I said, releasing his grip. He nodded. I swayed a little unsteadily, and cringed when I twisted the wrong way. "Ow!" I yelped, rubbing my back gingerly. Standin up as straight as I could, I smiled a little relived at Wes.
-
"You're not fully healed." I said quietly. "I think I might have some emergency Ambrosia, but I can't be sure. What about you, Will?" I started rummaging through my pockets, having to take off the armor.
-
"Wes, stop." I waved them off. "I'm fine. Let's just go see the others. Besides," Iadded. "I want to check on Annabeth."
-
*I added)
-
"Holy crap." I muttered. "I totally forgot about her." Grabbing Connor's arm, I was itching to run, but concentrated on killing as many monsters as I could on my way there. "Oh gods," I muttered. "Please, don't let Annabeth die." I pleaded silently.
-
Drawing my sword, I stumbled after the others. Gods, I felt so useless! I couldn't even fight properly. "Watch out!" Will shouted, pushing me roughly out of a spear's path. "Thanks." I grunted, ignoring the glaring pain that had -again- risen up. Lately I seemed to be letting everyone else do the work. Not this time, I promised myself. Time to start saving yourself.
-
It was in sight. And the number of mortals in the area, sleeping, sickened me. What if they got hurt? How would this be explained? I shook my head, forcing myself to keep going forward. I couldn't break down on my friends again. I couldn't freak out in the middle of a war. That's when I saw the little red bug, parked on the side of the street...empty. "Mom!" I cried, running to the car. No...she couldn't be here. That car was wrecked, gathering dust in our garage, the last time I saw it.
-
Oh no. "Wes!" I run up to her. "That's not her car...is it?" I squeaked nervously.
-
I was close to tears when the door opened. "She's not in here." I cried. "It isn't locked, Diana, what is she doing here?!"
-
"Wes, calm down." I put a hand on her shoulder. "She's probably in one of the buildings around here." We did need to go check in with Percy and the others, but I knew this was important.
-
I sat in the drivers seat, feeling the leather on the steering wheel. I closed my eyes and concentrated on her. I had always had this "gift", since I was little, that if I concentrated on my mother, I would know exactly where she was. "Come on." I whispered. "Work for me." The car roared to life, making me jump. a thin trail of blue smoke ran around a corner, pointing the way. I got out of the car and started down the path, walking in a daze.
-
I raised my eyebrows in surprise. "How long have you been able to do that?" I asked, following her anxiously. Luckily, her bright pink hair was easy to follow.
-
"As long as I can remember. It's invisible to mortals, though. I used to get lost in stores all the time." I shrugged. "When I want to find her, all I have to do is think of her."
