Connor: "Luke?" The jelousy monster rose in me. Luke and Wes had been close before she and I even became friends. But I was sure (well, mostly sure) that she didn't feel as close to him anymore. But anything's possible.
"Connor!" Wesley ran up and hugged me, sobbing. -
Another arrow whizzed past, this time I had to duck out of the way, pulling Travis down with me. Will fired back some arrows of his own, managing to destroy some of the telkhines. I drew my sword and charged towards the demigod with the helmet, who turned and ran. I chased after him, leaving the others to handle the rest. As soon as I finished off this one, I would go back and help them.
I turned a corner and nearly had a heart attack at what I saw. The demigod held his helmet in his hand, makin his face visible. Scruffy blonde hair that fell in his eyes, familiar golden brown eyes, and that little scar right above his left eye. "...David?!" I half screamed-half whispered. His expression was hard to read, but he did reply. "Hey Di." Oh, to hear his voice again. I had missed it so much. But Kronos...David would never... "You...You're alive." I gasped, my hands trembling. His face softened. "Yeah, I am, and I-" "But you're fighting for him. Why?" He stepped towards me and I regarded him with a slightly suspicious look. "Di, Kronos saved me. After I was seperated from the others on that quest, I was dying." He looked me in the eyes, and a warn feeling shot through me. "But I don't trust him." David confirmed, much to my relief. "I will get back to camp." He smiled my favorite smile, the one that made his slight dimples show. "And then we can be together." His hand came up to softly cup my face and I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him in to kiss me.
Oh, Zeus, I had missed kissing him. I didn't need any powers to feel the magic of this moment. My sword clattered to the ground and he wrapped his other hand around my waist. After another glorious moment, he broke away, but when he did, there was something wrong. He look almost like he was in pain. Turning his gaze to the ground, his hands dropped to his sides, curling into fists. "I'm sorry Diana." He muttered.
"David, what do you-" I was cut off by a pained, shocked scream. My own. An unbearable pain spread through my back, and it spiked again at the sound of another person laughing. I fell to my knees, blackness dancing at the edges of my vision. I looked up weakly to see another demigod holding a ragged blood stained knife. "Good work." He said to David with a smirk. My desperate eyes shot to the blonde demigod in question. "You- you t-tricked me!?" I gasped, shaking uncontrollably. He looked down, and didn't answer for a moment. When the shadows were closing in, I finally heard his reply. "I did this for your own good." And then there was nothing.
Travis: I watched Diana chase a guard down before turning my attention to one of the empousa. She snarled, fiery hair blazing and teeth bared. I slashed at her with one of my two bronze daggers, and she sidestepped. She swung a heavy sword at my but I rolled out of the way just in time. While she struggled to pick the heavy weapon back up, I tackled her to the ground, raising my weapon. The monster's fearful look turned to one of triumph when a terrified scream echoed through the street. With one monement her smirk turned to dust, and I looked to Connor, fear in my voice. "That sounded like Diana." -
Connor: Wes sombered up in an instant, her eyes wide and fearful, but also had a fire in them. She was extremely angry, and I felt no sympathy for her victims. She ran off, holding up her sword, followed by a couple dozen undead warriors. "Diana!" She shouted. Somehow, the scene was almost familiar to me, yet I couldn't place how. I turned to Travis; maybe he knew. "Where have we seen a kid leading a bunch of skeleton people into battle?"
I saw Diana laying on the ground, her mid-section and hands covered in blood. "No!" I screamed. She was fading. My best friend was dying right in front of me. I looked up at the two male demigods. "Kill them." I growled, an order to the undead behind me. -
I stared at Diana, and said, "I'll be right back." I ran off torwards the battle and further into the city. I knew just the person to help Diana, and nothing would stand in my way to get to her. Alexis, I thought, please be able to help her.
-
I pointed to David, the son of Apollo and Diana's boyfriend. "Leave him to me." I said loudly. Take him to the Empire State Building, with the other demigods." Two skeleton people took David and held him tightly, running to the demigod battle camp. "Oh Di," I said, tears streaming down my face. "I shouldn't have stayed to fight Kronos. I am so sorry, Diana."
-
Travis: I drew my daggers, eyes alit with raging anger. The demigod holding a bloodstained knife backed away, holding the weapon out in some weak attempt at intimidation. I slashed the dagger out of his hands, raising my own above me. The demigod cowered, but I showed no mercy. Slicing downward, a final shriek ended his life. Turning to face the blonde boy before me, my own weapons now stained crimson, I growled, "Let's go." The boy simply glared, made no acknowledgement that I had spoken. I roughly grabbed his arm and began pullin him towards the Empire State Building. As much as I wanted to kill him, right here, right now, I knew Wesley must've had a reason for keeping him alive. So I dragged him along until he yanked out of my grasp. "I can walk by myself." He muttered.
-
I reached the cottage and pushed open the door. "Alexis? I need your help." She turned to me. "Hi Bree. What do you need?" I took a deep breath. "My friend is hurt and I need you to heal her. She's in the city." She nodded. "Okay. Lets go." She snapped her fingers and we were standing in front of Diana and Wes.
-
"Di," I mumbled, cradling her in my lap. I touched my forehead to hers, letting the tears fall. If they could kill living things, maybe they'd be able to heal dead ones. "Kill the monsters." I ordered, my voice strangled. "Kill them all."
-
"Wes," I said, "Diana will be fine. Alexis can help. " Alexis stepped forward and knelt
By Diana and Wes. "How was she wounded? What weapon?" She asked. -
I stared at the bloodied dagger Travis dropped. "That," I whispered. "That killed her."
-
Alexis: "A simple knife stab. Might've hit some internal organs. Lets see...." I ran my hands through the air and concentreated on my healing powers. My hand glowed gold, and I touched the girl who Bree had called Diana. Her wound started to close and she glowed a brilliant gold as I fel her life force return. The glow faded and I stood up. "She should wake up in a minute or two. " I said.
-
"Th-thanks." I said. I ran my fingers through her hair, crying. "Thank you so much." I gasped in pain, clutching my middle, as Diana's eyelids fluttered. She gasped in air, cringing. "David- knife- traitor," she cried. I kissed her forehead. "Shh, it's okay. I had Travis take David to the Empire State building. He and Percy will decide what to do with him until we get back."
"And...the other one?"
"Dead. Travis, he...he killed him." -
I closed my eyes and let the tears fall freely, reaching up to clutch Wes's hand tightly. "David...he- I..." I'm shaking again and I hate it, but every time I try to compose myself the reality hits me and I'm sobbing again. Stabbed in the back. Litterally. Speaking of which...
I try to sit up but wince as a sharp pain flares up. "Ouch." I reach back to run the wound, pushing past the pain into a sitting position. "The wound closed?" I asked, trying to clear my eyes. I probably look pathetic. -
Travis: I yanked David over to Percy and glared at him. "You have some serious explaining to do. Especially when Wes gets back."
Diana: I looked up at Wes, still shaking and crying like lost little kid. (Which is how I felt, but not how I wanted to look.) "He t-tricked me..." I looke down at my hands, still spattered with blood. "I...Wes, I'm so sorry!" I looked down, unable to meet her eyes. I had left her to face Kronos alone. I had let myself fall into a trap an had gotten seriously hurt. But the somber faces of the others made me realize something. When I had blacked out, I had heard a laugh. I had assumed it was Kronos, but what if... "Oh Gods, Wes." I choked out. "I died." -
I closed my eyes. "Five minutes." I said. "But yeah." My leg jerked. "Travis!" I cried. "He- he thinks you're still dead!"
