Thread Topic: A question from atheists

True, but what created those subatomic quarks?
-
We don't know.
The big bang was the origin of the universe. We can tell this from the fact that the universe is expanding. But when we try and explain causality, we are stumped. Time and space both exist within the universe, so if we are to look for an origin of the universe, we are forced to look for an answer outside of time and space.
For many, saying "God did it" is a reasonable answer. But the next question would be, who created God? Saying God is eternal, is no better a solution that saying that the universe was infinite. In the logic of causality, something could not exist without a start. So "God" is no better an answer than "Nothing".
Human biology betrays us. We have grown to think that everything has an obvious cause. But if our past is anything to judge ourselves off of, then think of this;
-100 years ago, we couldn't imagine that our galaxy was only one in an ocean of more than 100 billion.
-200 years ago, we couldn't imagine that the stars were more than 13,000 light years away.
-500 years ago, we couldn't imagine that the earth revolved around the sun.
Every question we have ever not been able to answer has had one thing in common. When we finally figured it out, it always turned out to be not magic. We don't know all the details of the origin of the universe. But we're learning. And we won't lie to you about it, either. -
Whatever the answer could be,something must've created that. This is s---ty.
-
Smooth. You don't like the answer so you'll side with theism. And before you tell me that you're not siding with theism-
"Something must've created that". -
I only expressed a logical opinion. That doesn't make me anything.
-
No. Saying that something must've created it because my answer was s---ty, is not a logical opinion.
And even if it were, the standpoint that you have to stand behind to make said opinionated statement, is what makes you an agnostic theist. -
I didn't say your answer is s---ty.The logic is s---ty.Even god must've been created by something right?
This looks like an open ended question, and it is s---ty(or just nasty).Isn't it logical? -
barber, have you been watching the BIG BANG THEROY?
-
God created the scientific laws. He made it so matter can't just appear.
And an expanding universe doesn't prove the big bang theory.
The big words to make us confused isn't working that well. -
Why did god create us humans, geek?
-
He got bored of doing nothing.
Most christians will give a longer and more drawn out reason. -
Pretty logical.
-
The expanding universe can be reverse tracked. If things are moving away from each other, it draws to reason that they used to be closer. That they can tie to an origin.
And Asking if God had to be created still requires there be a GOD. I can't answer your question because it is skipping the step where you actually prove something that has no physical means of being proven. Present to me a single provable shred of evidence in the existance of a God. Please.
I said we don't know everything, and it's true, we don't. But I did give a detailed explanation of what we do know and the predicted answers that are to come. I also explained humanities track record of things we didn't know the answer to, and explained how there is no reason to think that our current inquiry should be any different.
But that's not good enough for you. -
Look at the 17th post,
"For many saying that god did it is a reasonable answer. But the next question will be:Who created god?"
I was refering to your post when I said that. -
I was pointing out the logical fallacy in saying that things required a creator. If everything required a creator, then we have an infinite loop of things that required something else to create them. Hence why I'm saying that we do not yet understand the physics behind the big bang, but we are working on it. Something which you called, "Shitty."
