First you said I'm religious because I believe in god and gave me a definition of religion.
I used the same source as you did and gave you a definition of "religious" that proved I'm not one.
You again didn't accept what I said and told me I'm theist because I believe in a theist god while I didn't.
Still thinking I'm religious? -
Religious is the act of participating religiously. That would be monks and preists. The community however who do not participate or dedicate themselves to it, aren't the same. Under your definition of religious, the only people who are religious are preists and monks. Can you see the flaw in that logic?
And as I said from the very beginning, Agnostic isn't a standpoint. It is a descriptive word.
Latin 101
Gnostic = knowledge
Theist = belief in a theistic God.
A before a word = lack of.
I.E.
A-gnostic = lack of knowledge
A-theist = lack of belief in a theistic God.
Calling yourself an Agnostic is just saying you don't know. It's not a religious stand point.
I am an Agnostic Athiest. Agnostic is used to describe the type of atheist I am. I don't know everything, but with the information I have, I lack belief in a God.
You're sounding Agnostic Theist. You don't know everything, but with the information you have, you do acknowledge a God.
This is based on the half a dozen times you have said that there could be a god, or that it was logical for there to be a god, or that it would be impossible for there not to be a god. -
Still in my opinion, religion involves more than just believing in a god,but it's just words right?
With my current information-that are absolutely not enough-I can't prove anything to myself.
True, everything can be explained with science but it only proves religion wrong, not the existence of god.The "different" god might've created this world in a scientific way.
But then again as you say,all this might've been created all by itself and there hasn't been a god.
See my point? -
I kept insisting that a god exists only because you said there isn't.I was just trying to tell you that it might exist.
-
I get what you're trying to say. Now please listen to what I'm saying.
I am an agnostic atheist. I admit that I don't know everything. But there is nothing viable to point towards religion. In fact, there is absolutely no reason to believe one at all. The only reason that a "god" even enters our minds now is because of the traditions followed by society from 6,000 years ago.
Religion was created to explain the things we couldn't explain. This was back when storms, the rain, lightning, floods, earth quakes and every other natural occurance out there was unexplainable. It was deemed, God did it. God was angry. But with every step we have taken forward, we have expanded what we know. God was a comfort zone for the unknown. When we didn't understand something, it was God. But with every inch humanity climbs higher and higher, we look around and realize that there is no God there. But that comfort zone makes us still fear that he's just a little bit above us. But why?
Humans are curious by nature. We are. We want to figure things out, and when we can't figure them out, they scare us. I mean, fuck, you're willing to believe that there might be an all powerful wizard solely on the fact that we don't know everything. But that wizard is there because we haven't been able to let it go. God still remains a possibility in the back of all of our minds because we were raised to believe that there was one. And our parents before us were raised on that idea too. And there parents. And so on and so forth for countless generations.
Humanity may be curious, but we also hate to think we were wrong. So people hang on to the idea of God. Even though everything that once supported him has turned out to be explainable.
This is why I am an agnostic atheist. Because even though we don't know everything, anything that has ever pointed towards a God has been proven otherwise.
Do you understand? -
I totally understand.Actually the same of your speech I've told my classmates.
Many people here believe in soul and bring some stupid reasons for it(Some of them even say when we sleep and have dreams,it's our soul wandering out there.)When I proved them wrong,I didn't prove soul doesn't exist,I only showed their specific "soul" doesn't exist.I personally think ghosts of dead humans exist, but hell it's just my opinion.
You are true about many things. But the god you're against is the one in religion. The dick that I myself have enough reasons to prove he doesn't exist.
This god I'm talking about or let's just call it "creator",is just another possibility of how the world was created.I don't know much about him,but the chances he might exist is more than a rock that brings back the dead.Still not agree? -
I'd put more faith in the rock actually.
At least rocks physically exist. And that's a start. -
In order to exist,it must exist physically?
-
Exist: Have objective reality or being.
Um yes, exist does mean it has to physically be there. -
So you don't believe in anything supernatural?
-
Werewolves, vampires, Etc? Not in the sense that urban legends have hyped them up to be. There's a logical explanation for everything.
Big foot, Loch Ness Monster? I think the truth behind them has been lost in the hype.
Ghosts, spirits? There are scientific explanations for everything. I do believe in ghosts, but not in the religious sense.
God? There is no reason to. -
Ghosts,what is explanation of science?
-
The human body produces an energy field. This field is actually different from person to person. This is the basis for Ghosts.
Conscious haunts: A conscious haunt is a ghost that is self aware. One that can interact and respond to stimulation. When the body dies, the energy field doesn't always just dissipate. That energy field is what causes Conscious haunts.
Residual haunts: A residual haunt is a ghost that repeats the same action over and over again. This can be done in one of two ways. Certain types of materials are susceptible to imprinting of magnetic fields. So lets say if you sat in the same chair every day and read the news paper. The magnetic field of you doing that could be imprinted on certain items in that room. And under the right circumstances could be broadcasted back out. Like a hologram. Or if something happened to make your energy field jump, such as a sudden startle or a sharp pain; your energy field could flash imprint itself. This would be the residual haunts of people dying or screaming. Very rare, but they do happen.
And that is my scientific explanation for Ghosts.
I am a licensed paranormal investigator. I am currently taking a 12 hour class on parapsychology. And am one class away from being a licensed demonologist. -
The energy looks like the person that's died?
-
Bob,I never expected you to act like that.
Maybe instead of going mad at telling me nothing I say makes sense, you shoul've asked me what part you don't understand.I'm sure I could've explained it to you.
But whatever.
