I think, something that's important to understand is iconography. As summer explains, it's not the devil proper that's being used, but rather the idea of a rebel, a more symbolic entity.
It's like how Christian re-writing of norse mythology turns both Baldur and Loki into a Jesus allegory [ I. Do not have the spoons to explain this I am sorry]
It's defintley understandable for the mix up, but the satanic temple did purposefully choose the devil as a symbol for that purpose. A core belief that I've encounter among satanists, is that since they do not believe in the Christian God, they also do not believe in the Christian devil.
It can be hard to grasp, but I'd be glad to discuss it with you, though perhaps in a different thread? Since I worry about derailing.
I'm very glad everyone could come to a peaceful resolution /gen -
Jesus nor his apostles didn’t go sit in necromancy nor did He participate in satanism itself/read the satanic bible to know what satanists believed in. By all means, we all have free will, so do as you please with that.
Yes, with Christ you have protection. In scripture it says our hearts and minds will be guarded in Christ Jesus, but that doesn’t mean you’re not subject to be oppressed by demonic spirits; if you have Christ in you, you can’t have a demonic spirit inside of you, but they can surround you and oppress you by that.
I agree that reading information off a quiz site for the most part isn’t harmful and I shouldn’t be anxious of these things because I have Christ, but these things can lead people to other websites that might open gateways to things that’re evil.
I love you guys, but I’m not going to sit back as a blind person is about to walk off a cliff without at least warning them to be careful of their steps. Again, you all have free will, but there may be one with eyes to see and ears to hear what the true living God says. -
Hey! Let's not claim any god as the only true god. That's f---ing offensive. Your religion isn't the only one kid.
My deities are not Demonic. My practices aren't either. Do not dare tell me they are. -
I dont see where anyone said that jesus did necromancy or read the satanic bible. So I do not get that argument. I also highly doubt that you even know what actual, real life necromancy is [ Hint: it's Divination. ]

I am not, nor will I ever again follow the Christian God. They are not my god. They're word is not what I follow. I will not stand by here and watch you spread harmful misinformation where you tie two unrelated religions together, just to demonise them both.
-
Espie, religion and culture walk hand in hand. What you are doing and saying is inherently disrespectful. All religions share concepts and idealogies and are meant to strengthen and unite people. I hope that you learn how to be more open someday, because what you are exercising is a form of pride that will teae your soul to shreds.
-
We respect your worship. You're free to follow who you will, and to love your God in all your Ernest belief. That's fine. More power to you, but
stop. Calling. Our. Religions.evil. -
@Spice: Thank you. I'm also sorry for lashing out. I don't know what was specifically triggering me, but I'm still trying to work on handling my religious trauma properly.
@Fifidee: Also! Satanism is a form of atheism too, so they don't believe in any deity at all.
@Espie: Ain't no way you just said the Christian god is the TRUE god 💀
I'm sorry, but the Christian god is not the "true god". We're humans. We don't know what god actually exists. That's literally the whole point of my current religious status (agnostic). We'll never know until we die.
Thinking like that is SUPER harmful to every other religion, and you should be ashamed for saying something so ignorant and offensive. Once again, your religion is not "superior" or "the only real one". -
The ultimate peace a person can find is peace in not having to have all the answers in life. We can chose our own beliefs and interpret meaning in life in a way that is deeply personal without having to have the ultimate answers to everything.
Religion provides insular answers to life's hardest questions. It provides peace and a sense of direction. It's something deeply important to people and I completely understand why.
Ultimately though, I think that it's okay and even healthy to not have all the answers. You don't need to think you know how the universe started or the nature of good and evil to choose what values are important to you. It's healthy to be able to say "I don't know." To be able to listen to other people's experiences and perspectives with the understanding that their subjective reality is every bit as real as your own. To not label everything as "insider" or "outsider."
Life is so much better when you're able to freely explore new ideas. When you can question your own beliefs and find ones that truly resonate with you and not just the ones you were born into. It's important to respect other people's culture and beliefs. It's also important to challenge beliefs we deem to be harmful. This is how we grow as a species. -
Also, depending on how you define necromancy; Jesus totally did participate in necromancy. Lazarus is like. THE. Necromancy story. Which is absolutely fine.
Stop perpetuating that magic is wrong, or that it's evil. It's not lmao -
Espie,I respect Christians and Christ, but please do not claim that Christ is the only true God.We all have our different religions, and we should respect everyone’s religions and beliefs.

In all honesty Espie, I'm concerned for you. You don't sound like you worship out of love, but rather fear. It sounds more like you're so afraid of the idea of hell, that you've turned to God to cope with that?
And I do not say this to judge you, or to imply that Christianity in general is based on fear.
I understand very much that it's not, but your words right now, remind me of my own as I grew up Catholic. Like you I was Sa'd. And i turned to scripture to justify what happened to me, out of fear that God would send me to hell for what had happened to me, as it had been a member of the church who had done so.
And then, I realised fear has no place in religious faith and I left the church and felt such a weight lift.
God won't send you to hell for acknowledging other people and their religions. You won't open "gateways" by educating yourself. As a practioner, I'm well versed in how to avoid that. And let me tell you, you have to actively go out of your way to invite demons into your space. And, unless you can speak latin, and have the nesscaery supplies on hand, I highly doubt you're going to invoke demons from reading a list of tenants from an atheist organisation.
Religion should be about love, not fear. If you worship God only to avoid Hell, then I think you need to genuinely consider therapy or some other avenue for counselling. It sounds like you have a large gear of death and what happens after we died that might be impacting your relationship with God and faith in general.
Especially, considering you're attempting to fear monger. That's not cool. -
Hey Espie, from what I was taught- forgive me if I'm wrong- doesn't your God really, really hate when people pick fights 'in his honor'? From what I was taught, I remember that he considered it incredibly disrespectful, and I'd have to agree. In my opinion, it tells you much more about the person that's talking than what they're talking about.
And as for not reading it because of 'demonic spirits' or something, I'm sorry, but that's the only way you can truly understand what you're talking about. As a human, you need to see new experiences and cultures and figure out for yourself what you're going to do with this information.
You're not going to unlock demons for reading about a fairly unknown religion. You're going to unlock demons by knowingly unlocking demons.
But anyways, that's just my take, do with it as you will. -
I'm going to ask all of you this. What is truth?
-
I really don't understand your question. It sounds like you genuinley have no rebuttal or desire to acknowledge the hatred you're spreading.
