Because they were positioned in such a way that whatever damage done to the car did not damage their bodies. -

Why did God choose to protect your aunt and mother? After all, 115 people die in car accidents every day in the United States; surely many of them are Christians. Do you really think that your family was so special that God decided to alter the laws of reality JUST to let them live, while 115 other people died on the same day? -
but a person's natural response to a collision is to curl up into a ball position or the armadillo so the impact would be evenly distributed through the body not just one part
