Idk I wouldn't think it's rude or selfish to just go "Hey, me and this friend don't mesh well, is there any way she could not come over?" I mean, they'll probably figure out that you don't like talking to her at some point, so you might as well just get that out of the way before it gets too complicated...

Idk how to feel about trans folk getting mad at allies and other trans folk for buying HP stuff. Yeah JK Rowling is a huge transphobe and we don’t like her. The books are ok ig but the only reason I’m into HP is for the universe honestly. Like it’s such a well built universe with so much potential but all the characters are dry and the plot isn’t my favourite. But JK Rowling has been relevant for years and ppl buying merch isn’t going to change that. She’s not going to stop profiting, especially because of the MANY shows, movies, and video games based on HP. That’s not gonna stop any time soon which yeah it sucks but I’ve just decided to seperate the art from the artist. She’s going to keep earning whether or not people decide to buy stuff. There’s a reason she’s popular. She wouldn’t be popular if her books were absolute trash and nobody liked them. She’s definitely been milking it out tho like we don’t need so many spinoffs, new versions, extensions etc (but I can’t say much on that bc I’m into PJO lmao)

I respect separating the art from the artist. My take on it is that the best part of HP is the fanbase and headcanons (both of which she's been really mean to/about which I think is hilarious considering ITS YOUR FANS DUMMY), and you don't need to give JK Rowling money to be a fan lol

Fair lol. Even then it’s your money, so just do what you want with it. You can’t really stop the entire world from buying HP merch so either way she’s gonna earn money lol
