I didn't read through this thread for everyone's opinion..Because I didn't care :D
It saves you a lot of work if you just don't care -
I see right and wrong in both sides.
First of all, it's an opinion. You don't have to agree with it, but I think that he/she is right. Most of the older user do act like they're better and have more power over everyone else, and it's not right. We're all a part of this site, and no one is better than anyone else in any kind of way. We're all equal. The day a user joined should not matter. Now, I know what some of you are going to say. "No one cares about a newb's opinion." Thats a perfect example of how older users think they're better. It's rude and disrespectful.
Second of all, moderators are here to help you, not cause you trouble. To say something rude about a moderator is rude.
Lastly, who cares that we don't know exactly who this person is? It's an opinion. -
Am I the only one that doesn't use the "older user" thing to my advantage all the time? Sure I call newbs what they are but still, I'm not trying to be mean about it even if I come across that way.

When I first came here I didn't even post on the forums, because I was more occupied with the quiz feature of the site. Once I finally came around to the forums, I spent about a month mainly just observing. I noticed that there were many "cliques". Usually the newer users were more approachable than older ones, at least for me.
But they've never been hostile to me. They're all pretty cool people, I think they just get tired of the newbs that do stupid things like trolling and spamming.
I agree with all of what Girl_Almighty said, too. -

okay okay hold on i'm gonna share something from a big scary older user perspective okay. you know how you and your grandparents probably don't really... get each other? it's a generational gap, and while it's less extreme, that's what's going on here. so part of this is because of us, yeah, but it's also because of you. i want to talk to you. i want to get to know newer users. but i'm really... not sure how to do that. i don't refresh every few minutes. i'm not amazed by the site anymore. hell, i'm not amazed by a lot of things anymore (see: dealing with depression). so if it seems like i, as an older user, seem to think that i'm above you guys, it's because i'm sticking to what's familiar. i'm not really sure how to handle what's new.
(if you're talking about some sort of "smugness" that's completely different, though, tell me) -
I personally have not seen any of these attitudes you speak of portrayed by any older users. The only time I can recall a clash between them is when newbies are doing stupid s--- and clouding up the forums with misplaced threads.
