I usually just think of gothic when I see goth and that's an architectural style so I'm good.

Hey i was just stopping by (i miss this website) so anyways @whiplash you are so f---ing wrong. Not all emos do self-harm.you have to be emo to know this~ and by the way emo- is short for emotional, not all emos are depresses, and yeay it is music to- if you hate people "labeling" as emo (like I said emo is short for emotional and there emo people who listen to emo music, uselessly people are like that coz they have something going on in there life, and no one gives a dame adout it,)if you don't like then~ deal with it!

excuse me person with the unoriginal wolf username
The stereotype of emos (or at leasr people who label themselves as one) are generally the types of people who are depressed and self-harm. The sort of people (and I find disgusting) think it's cool to use their "depression" to get attention, or think that being suicidal makes them some sort of victim needing everyone's love. Y'know, the people who have no desire to try and fix their depression.
At least, I see 'emo' used most often to describe those types of people. Technically it is, as the first post stated, a music genre. But you're saying that "emos" aren't all like what I described above, and I have to say that I think you're wrong. I see being emo as a bad thing honestly, I don't know why people (like that one user sademogirl) think it's cool to advertise their supposed depression. -

I see emo as yes, a stereotype, though it is a genre. I see it as people who love the same type of music- post hardcore, pop punk and punk. Some do self harm, and I find its overall stereotype stupid. No one should label themselves as anything, it's demeaning. It's not bad to be emo, but it's bad to label yourself so simply. -
Thefallingangel NewbieHonestly, I think emo is a lifestyle, I mean its a music gender, it's a stereotype.etc. And it's really annoying when people say that all Emo's cut, it's just a choice, besides everyone is different right? And just because you are considered emo, you should be proud, it means (what I think) You are different, and have problems but that's okay everyone does
And you shouldn't hate someone just because they are emo. Just saying.Take Joy In Who You Are. -
I always used to mistake emo for goth. How, I am not sure because there is a bold difference between them. So dont Chuck a wooden spoon @ my head if I do happen to mistake them by accident...
