Thread Topic: Did they make the right choice making abortion illegal
-
Exactly! We need to start letting people other than straight couples adopt, so people who don't want to abort but can't take care of the child are able to put the child in the foster system without adding to the number so much! and then hopefully they get adopted and have a happy life!
and back to my point, even if someone does want to get an abortion, people shouldn't be getting into other people's business, because they usually have a reason why they're doing it. if you don't want to have an abortion, fine. if you don't want other people to have an abortion, that's fine! but you shouldn't hate them or call them names or whatever the crazy pro-life people do, it's their decision. -
why did my post have to be the first post on this page hhh-
-
I understand most people have a good reason for an abortion. But some don't. There are people that actually abort their baby simply because they find out they have down syndrome. According to studies babies with down syndrome are twice as likely to be aborted. People with nuerodiversities deserve to live just as much as anyone else.
-
but still, it's not always. and of course people with nuerodiversities deserve to live! I mean, I might even be neurodivergent! (I just haven't been fully diagnosed yet, still nagging my parents). I have friends who are neurodivergent as well.
some people are just cruel, but you shouldn't judge other people who want or need an abortion. -
I was sexually assaulted when I was a child.
I was sat down in the doctors office at the hospital, my mum holding my hand as the doctor went over all of my options if I were to get pregnant.
What my rights in the situation were, and how this could affect my life. What could happen to me if I went through with a potential birth.
I was lucky enough to not have gotten pregnant, but I will never get over that fear I had as a literal child.
Why should literal children be punished because an adult raped them?
Why do some people in this thread think that's alright?
Why should my parents have had to worry about burying me if I'd gotten pregnant from my assault, and kept it?
Why should I have had to worry about giving up on my dreams, and my future for a child that I never wanted.
Don't speak of the morality of victims aborting, until you can actually understand the pain. The fear of sitting in a hospital room, being told what could happen to you.
You lack basic human empathy for even daring to compare rape with getting an abortion.
Two wrongs don't make a right?
Protecting your own body is not the same thing as being violated.
Educate yourself.
Read accounts of Victims, of the terror they experienced.
Have some actual respect for human beings who are alive, who can think and can feel.
And tell me, that if your sister, girlfriend or daughter got raped, and ended up pregnant that you'd like her in the eye and tell her she was as bad as her rapist, for terminating. -
I'm sorry that happened to you. I agree that R@pe and Abortion are NOT the same thing and are absolutely NOT at the same level.
I wasn't going to say anything about this, But...I have been sexually assaulted. While I was in church. I was 9. I'm not open about my religious trauma, let alone any of my trauma in general, but this was one of the reasons why I let Christianity be a past thing. I didn't even know that it was assault until a year and a half ago.
It wasn't anything crazy either. I wasn't r@ped, but it still left emotional scars. -
I'm very sorry you experienced that Summer. I have a very similar experience to you, which is why I stepped away from my Catholic upbringing. In my comparatively short life, I have been victimised by three adult men. This is why I can't wrap my head around the idea that some people on this website believe that
Victims should have to suffer because of what someone else did to them.
It especially bothers me, that many people in this thread have religious motivations. Seperate religion from human rights. Your religious beliefs do not get to supercede other peoples bodily autonomy. If you're religious and experience an unplanned pregnancy, then by all means keep the child, raise them yourself or put them up for adoption. All the power to you.
But never, ever dare to project your religious beliefs on another person's body.
I know many of you in this thread, particularly those of you condemning rape victims, are children. So I understand that you likley don't fully understand what you're talking about, so I urge you to please educate yourself. Read actual statistics, realise that termination isn't some fun procedure that people go through.
Particularly, I urge you to search out stories of people who were assaulted and either terminated or kept their rapists baby.
In my own situation, if I had been pregnant I would have had to go to school with my rapist. He remained in school for the rest of the hear before graduating. Its even possibile his family would have sued me for custody.
You do not understand the sheer terror it brought me to imagine this, as a child.
So please, never compare rape to abortion. -
Personally my biggest problem with abortion is from a moral standpoint, not just the fact that they kill the fetus, but HOW they kill it.
-
I will be honest here, I don't really know how abortions are carried out, especially in the USA as I am not from there.
I'd always thought it occurred via medicines.
However, ravager I would like to ask that you address and explain why you think that Rape victims should have to carry to term. I want to understand your reasoning so I can explain my side to you.
I will not insult you, but I do want to know your perspective. -
First off, I just believe that two wrongs don't make a right. The way I see it, you end the life of an unborn child because of where that child came from.
AND SECONDLY, there are three methods that I know of.
First off: Dismemberment. They dismember the fetus. I'm fairly certain there's more to it but my brain just doesn't.
Second: They directly cut the spine of the fetus, and then suck the brain out of the head so that it can come out of the womb.
Third: To my knowledge, the only one that can be survived- they inject poison into the womb and hope that the baby dies from it. -
Would you mind citing some medical sources for these because, I have been unable to find any mention of these methods.
I have found a method similar to the second, where they use a vacuum to remove the fetus but; that only occurs if the fetus has unfortunately passed away already, or if the woman is in critical danger and the pregnancy must be ended late stage.
Do you understand, that when you are SA'd, the right to your body is taken from you. I want you to think, about that. Imagine you lost control of your arms, because another person tied them together.
You can't move your arms, and you can't pick things up.
Then, you break your arms after they're untied, but the doctor won't give you what you need to fix your arms. So for the next nine months you're stuck with no control of your arms, through no fault of your own.
That is kind of, what you're expecting victims of something horrible to go through.
Pregnancy can cause extreme complications, even in the safest of births. And a pregnancy that happens because of rape will most of the time have complications due to emotional stress.
It is not as simple as you think, to go through nine months of hell, to five birth to a child, that you had no part in creating. -
Although I don't agree with everything Ravager says,
these are actual abortion procedures. Also I like to state according to all the sites I read, abortions with a vaccum can happen when the fetus has not passed away, in early states of pregnancy. If you are sensitive to abortion related information, I wouldn't suggest clicking on the links, but I sited some sites for you.
This article goes over common types of abortion procedures, and I think it's unbiased:
This is an article related to D and E procedures and is very prochoice:
This is the wiki page on D and X and is unbiased. The information on it is pretty factual:
This is a very prolife article on D and X:
This is another article about D and X, and shows both sides:
This one is also about D and X, unbiased, and really long, and mostly goes over things mentioned in articles. But it goes more in depth on laws passed, and how the procedure works:
I hope any of these can be assistance for you if you are curious about the procedures. But again be wary of the content in them and keep safe :) -
Also I forgot to put this one down, it's another site that goes over methods, I believe this one is slightly prochoice, but it is factual:
-
*On my first link post I meant to say the second link was very ProLIFE not ProChoice
