I think it is safe enough to be legal for recreational purposes. There are certainly enough benefits that it should be legal for medical purposes. I think as long as it regulated and controlled like alcohol and tobacco it ought to be legal in every sense of the word.

People should be able to grow their own, it shouldn't matter, it's a plant.

I'd say yes to growing your own. I think the way it works in Washington is that you have to get a license to grow your own pot. I think that's the appropriate amount of regulation. As long as the state has some say over who grows, the risks are fairly minimal.
