"you're just jealous I can be whatever I want." Charlie plucked some of their feathers with their beak.

"I would never be jealous of someone who lives with monsters. Why are you insisting on staying in my house when you could go live in the dungeons with your own kind?" Roth said as he went into his pantry. He pulled out a bag of bowtie pasta and took out a pot to boil water in.

"Why would I?" Charlie hopped closer to the stove, then said "humans are very interesting. their fun to steal from too. they have the most interesting reactions." Charlie cocked their head to look at Roth from the side.

"humans also have the right to own firearms. humans are also defensive to a fault. It's not a great combination. Also if you steal any of my stuff I'm going to feed you poison." Roth said as he filled the pot with water. He then poured a strange red potion into the water.

"you humans are way too offended. also, please don't feed me poison." Charlie looked at the red potion. "what the heck is that?"

"it's a heat infuser. If I brewed it correctly it can not only salt my water but it can also speed up the process of boiling the water. Plus it adds a more spicy kick to the pasta." Roth said as he mixed in the potion and turned on the stove. There were two stoves in the kitchen. One was a standard electric stove, the other was an old looking gas burning stove.

"ohhh, I like spicy." they watched Roth. "why do you live alone? I thought humans enjoyed living in these boxes together."

"I find them annoying. They think I'm shady also, there's my eyes." Roth said. He looked right at Charlie. His multiple pupils stared at them. "This isn't a normal trait. I can't wear contacts at every hour of my life to stop people from throwing me in the dungeon." Roth said

"well then you understand where I'm coming from, I don't want to go to the dungeons either." Charlie flew off the cabinet, preparing to land while shifting back to their normal form. "especially when I can look like everyone else."

"the dungeon would mean you're among people that could accept you. It's the same reason people stay in the city." Roth said as he watched the water. He unscrewed the lid of the marinara sauce and searched his cupboards for a saucepan.

"then why don't you go?" Charlie asked. "Besides, its annoying over there. No space."
