I look at him. "Ya think?" I feel like I know exactly what's making me feel so weird, but I just can't grasp it.

I want to put my arm around her, but hesitate. "I hope."

I sigh. "Okay then. I guess I'll get something to eat..." I dig through my backpack, until I find a packet of freeze-dried food. "Can you put water in this?" I say, handing him the packet.

I nodd and pour some water over it, trying not to touch her hand.

"Thanks." I take the packet with me and sit down, tiwsting up the top and shaking it.

I watch her but shake my head. Don't stare.

I open it up to check that it's ready. "Done." I say, and pull a fork out of my backpack. "Oh, I didn't bring any plates. I thought it would just be me..."

I shrug. "It's fine."

"Okay." I hand him a fork,and sit facing him. I take the lid off of my water bottle, and put some of the potatoes in it. Then I hand the rest of the bag to him.

"Thanks." I take the food and eat. My eyes kept straying back to her....

I ate, but every once in a while, my eyes would flick over to Jerry. My eyes meet his for a second, but I quickly look away. "Sorry..."

"It"s fine......" I mutter.

I almost ask him something, but then I hear two people muttering to each other outside.

I look up at the sound.

Jerry's dad: "I think they went this way..."
Headmaster: "Well, I don't see them..."
