He sat on the hood of the car, staring up at the sky. Leaning back, he sighed. "Look, I'm sorry that this is probably your worst birthday by far, and as much as I'd like to take you back there and leave you to your car and perfect life, I can't."

I layed down and stared up at the sky. Why did this have to happen to me?

He stared up at the sky, frowning. Why'd he have to end up with, of all people, her? Maybe he should've just shot her. He'd missed on purpose, thinking she could possibly be useful, but she wasn't so far.

I stared up at the sky. "Why did you take me?" I was really curious.

He sighed. "I'm not sure. Sort of instinct. The security guards would've had no trouble going after me if I hadn't threatened to kill you. Sorry."

I didn't know why he was apologizing. He tried to kill me!

"And by the way, I never planned to kill you. If I'd wanted to kill you, you'd be dead now. I never miss." He looked over at her.

Well that was reassuring... NOT! Now I was even more frightened that I would step out of line and he would kill me.

He looked back up at the sky.

It was midday by now and the clouds were big, fluffy and white. It was too beautiful a day for something like this to happen.
