Sypher crawled under barb wire to get into camp. If only he could talk Charlie into keeping away from Alden..... then everything would be alright. But it wasn't that easy, it never was. He darted behind a deserted truck, stumbling to keep on foot.

Heph decided she couldn't do a war soap at all so she dropped out.:x

Alden let out a ragged sigh and folded the paper neatly into thirds. He then slipped it into a white envelope and addressed that as well. The courier would be coming by soon; he'd send it off then.
Being half a world away from Charlie had been ripping at his heart. He longed for his touch, to hear his voice once more... His chipper, sweet voice; not the one that was constantly muffled out through the base's receiver as bombs went off where he was. Every day was a struggle for him. He had no idea if his love was still alive overseas... All he had to reassure himself that Charlie was alive was the letters...
He looked up at the radio buzzed in the corner.
"News reports from the western hemisphere confirm that Canada did in fact open fire on small towns on the United States border. We are yet to find a confirmed fatality rate, though rumours do imply that many have been injured and/or killed. American forces are trying to keep Canadian troops back..." The radio then buzzed and faded, leaving nothing but empty silence. -

:o
It always made his hands shaking and his heart hurt thinking of what kind of danger Alden was in over there. It was pure torture when the news would play reports of what happened overseas, unsure if your loved one was even still alive.
Sometimes he'd wake up in the morning, and if everything seemed silent for once or calm, and wonder if the past three months were just a nightmare, and that if he turned over he'd see his Alden right where he should be; next to him. However, that never was the case, and it would crumble him like a blown up building.
"Men! Prepare to fire! Enemy forces have infiltrated the area!" A commanding officer yelled to his subordinates. They threw themselves out of bed and got ready to face the war right outside the backdoor. -
She sighed, turning away and looking at the stack of unused paper on her desk. I wish he'd write back. she thought. It's been months since his last letter, [/i]Probably preoccupied with his duties.[/i]

He pressed up against the truck, holding his FG42 tightly.

Alden turned his back to the radio, shutting his eyes tightly. He reached out for the accumulation of letters he had received from Charlie. He placed his fingertips onto the yellow paper and ran them lightly across it, feeling the grooves where Charlie's pen had etched the words into it.
The laughter of men from outside of the tent drew his attention.
"What ever happened to that don't ask don't tell thing that the Americans had? Why doesn't it apply here?" This remark resulted in snickers from all of them. Alden frowned. His fellow soldiers had been all but accepting of his sexuality. His tent mate had read through the letters once and word had spread fast. He now kept the paper secured underneath his shirt, tucked into his waistband. It was the closest he could get to having Charlie by his side. -
D: I'm so sorry for disappearing for so long!

Shots fired in the dusty country town, while the sky was almost black from all the smoke the bombings created. From the grass to the sidewalks dead soldiers littered the base, American and Canadian alike. Pure horror, but somehow, the surviving fighters had to push through it, if they wanted a chance at staying alive.
Behind a barrier, Charlie held him gone, following orders like a robot. It bothered him he had to shoot at and kill people who he knew had loved ones of their own, at home tired and starving, waiting for them. The cruel fact of it was, kill or be killed, was what drove these men on.
And as for word getting out about his sexuality, even if it wasn't a threat anymore of him being thrown out the soldiers were still very apposed to him being there. "Make the fag do the work!" and "I don't even want to be in the same room as that sick pervert!" were common complaints. So foolish, to think he'd even look at one of them that way. The only one he ever wanted to be with was Alden, and only Alden. -
No prob. xD I know whatcha mean.
