When she arrived, Mai was already there waiting for her. "Hi, I hope you weren't waiting to long."

"Nah, just got here." She smiled.

"Good." Kawa said, smiling back.

"So... Uh, just wanna walk around a bit?"

"Sure." she replied, Great. Now that I acually get to spend time with her I don't know what to say.

Mai walked beside Kawa down the woodsy trail in the park. "So... Uh, how's life?" She felt like kicking herself in the face. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Mai shrugged. "Okay I guess. I mean, aside from the whole school laughing stock stuff."

"Right, that probably sucks."

She nodded. "But somehow I just built up this social wall from people. I don't let anyone get close enough to really know me. So then if they ever decide to turn on me, they have nothing interesting to feed their fires, y'know?"

"Yeah, kinda. I just twist their words and send them back like ricoshay bullets."

"That's what I like about you. You're not afraid to fight back. Me, on the other hand... I'm their stupid punching bag."

"Well, I'm sure you could if you tried." Kawa said, "You've just got to have confidence in yourself."

"Heh..." Mai managed an exasperated smile. "Confidence. One quality I have in the quantity of zero."
