Chester buried his face in his pillow. ‘I’m sorry,’ he mumbled, voice muffled.

"It's okay." Jayden mumbled.

Chester shook his head.

Jayd smiled weakly. "Really, it is."

‘It isn’t!’ Chester exclaimed, sitting up. He kept switching between a bunny, phoenix and dog as he spoke. ‘I’m a murderer, Jayden! And my own boyfriend doesn’t trust me!’

Jayden looked down. "You didn't mean to murder anyone." He said quietly, not mentioning the last part.

‘That doesn’t change the fact I did! I could be dethroned, I-I could be thrown in jail, I could lose everything because of a dumb prank! And my boyfriend would be glad because it would mean he’d never have to see the dumb shapeshifter he’s scared of!’ Chester exclaimed. He knew he was jumping to conclusions, but he was too upset to think clearly.

Jayden stared in stunned silence. "Is that really what you think I'd do?" He asked angrily. He wasn't mad at Chester though. He was mad at himself for making his own boyfriend believe that.

‘I don’t know!’ Chester wailed, burying his face in his hands. He kept shifting between a bunny and a phoenix, eventually staying on phoenix, wings curling around himself. ‘I’d deserve it.’

Jayd's anger melted away- for the most part, at least. He shuffled closer to Chester, gently moving his wings. "I'm not heartless."

Chester didn’t look up. He sniffled. ‘I know. You’re amazing. I wish I could be better for you.’

Jayden took his hand gently. "I'm not amazing." He mumbled. I can't even make my own boyfriend happy.

Chester reluctantly looked at him, tears streaming down his face. ‘You are. You don’t deserve a guy who could spend the rest of his life in jail.’

"And you don't deserve a man who won't trust you." Jayden wiped his tears away as best as he could.

‘I wouldn’t trust me either,’ Chester mumbled. ‘Why do you stay? Why haven’t you just left?’
