Jayd stayed sitting there, staring at his shoes. He was an idiot. He needed to figure something out between him and Chester, fast.

Chester walked down the hall, eyes glued to the ground. He got a lot of weird stares, which made him feel worse.

Maeve was in the kitchen. She just barely took Lavender home, and was staring at the wall boredly until Chester walked in.

Chester glanced at her, then looked away. He sat down.

"What's wrong?"

'I told Jayden what really happened to our parents,' Chester mumbled.

Maeve grimaced, looking down at the floor. "I'm sure that went over well."

'Yeah,' Chester sighed, wringing his hands. 'He's scared of me.'

Maeve nodded in understanding. "Are you going to talk to him about it?"

'I have. He said Oliver said to give it time, but I don't know how long I'll have to wait for him to trust me.'

Maeve nodded. "Do you know if he wants to give it time? Or if it's just something Oliver said so he wants to listen?"

'I don't know. I just hope he doesn't leave.'

Maeve shrugged. "I would ask him."

Chester sighed, nodding. 'I will.'

Maeve nodded, looking up at him.
