Chester & Jayden

Jayden hung up immediately, wiping his face with his hand, groaning.
Beatrice narrowed her eyes. She pulled him closer again so their noses were just barely touching. "Come on, Chester. You don't miss it? Don't you want this more than a disturbed little boy too scared to say he loves you?" -
Chester winced, seeming to shrink. ‘N-No, I don’t miss it at all,’ he said quietly, voice wavering. ‘A-And he said he loved me this morning…’
-
Beatrice grew a small smile at how unsure his voice sounded. "Oh, this morning, how sweet. How long have you been saying it for? Days? A week? Since you've gotten together? Do you remember how long it took me to tell you?"
-
Chester looked away, trying not to let her words get to him. ‘H-He was just uncomfortable with it…’ he said, voice barely above a whisper. ‘And no, I don’t.’
-
"Was he? Or was he uncomfortable because he bit off more than he could chew and now he's trying to find a way out?" Beatrice rolled her eyes. "I told you he was using you."
-
‘What would he even be using me for if he wants to leave?’ Chester said, panicking.
-
"He thought you'd be an easy target, but clearly he was wrong, so now that he's figured that out, he's trying to leave before he gets stuck with you forever."
-
Chester’s jaw clenched. He felt sick. ‘H-He’s not like that. You don’t know him.’
-
"I don't have to know him. It's tale as old as time." Beatrice cupped his chin in her hands, kissed him, and left without another word.
-
Chester watched her leave, trying to process what had just happened. He stumbled backwards when Beatrice’s power on his legs disappeared. He sat down on the dirt and broke down crying.
-
Jayden was in Chester's room, waiting. He was sure Chester would've been there by now, so he stood up, walked out, and started looking for him.
-
Chester buried his face in his hands, starting to believe Beatrice. Why would Jayden love him? He was pathetic.
-
Jayden walked around, noticing Chester sitting in the garden. "Chester?" He asked gently, walking forward.
-
Chester rested his forehead on his knees, sobbing, and cuddled his knees to his chest. ‘Y-Yeah?’
-
Jayden frowned, realizing he was sobbing. "Hey, I'm right here." He murmured, sitting next to him. "What's wrong?"
