So do I, Ana. xP
-
What's wrong with the little mermaid?
That doesn't even look Disney honestly. -
The ending for The Little Mermaid isn't the way the original one. More sugar-coated.
In the original one, from what I was taught as a little girl, she commits suicide by jumping off the boat, because she thinks that the prince will be happier. -
I hate disney.
-
I heard Disney bought Star Wars for 4 Billion.
What is this world coming too... e_o -
:I apparently in earlier versions of the little mermaid, the prince chose another girl and the mermaid dissolved into sea foam.
And of course it has to have a happy ending. You don't want to tell little kids, "if you love someone, make them happy by committing suicide" -
Most fairy tales in the medieval era had rather dark endings E.E
-
Yeah, back when witches ate children. xD Lovely German stories.
-
Infinity NoviceOk. No. Disney, I knew you'd kill my thought of a finally adding Latina Princess.
Yes, Some Mexicans can look like this. My friend's entire family is from Mexico and she looks like this girl (Bright blue green eyes{though} and just a bit darker, just a bit.)
But Noo. This girl does not look Hispanic. I would not have guessed she was in any way latina if the thread did not say so. If they are going to represent my culture, they should truly represent. Oh gosh, I hope they didn't already buy the rights for this animation to be made. They should at least darken her skin abit. (funny coming from me who barely looks the heritage) Will she even speak spanish? What is with the age? Is it to make her more accepting? Really?
Come on Disney. Are you gonna ruin star wars too? To be honest, Disney, most of your newer movies suck. And the thrilogy to the movies do too. Toy Story 3 was probably one of the only exceptions. -
@Infinity Yes, Toy Story 3 was epic. Disney has gone downhill nowadays. However, I like Tangled and Princess and the Frog B-)
-
That's not exactly what she was saying. She was thinking that the prince would be happier without her anyways, and plus she was already going to die anyway.
I don't see how that was bad. Everyone I know who is from my country was told the story that way, and I have never heard of any of them committing suicide or thinking of doing it because of some story. Truth is, a lot of fairy-tales are sugar coated in the states. -
I knew all of the original fairy tales when I was little, and I never got the idea that you should kill yourself if you love somebody. Man, people seriously underestimate the brains of little kids. I used to be a little kid and I'm still young enough to remember it pretty well. The Cookie Monster never convinced me that I should only eat cookies, and the original Little Mermaid didn't convince me that you were supposed to commit suicide when you fell in love. On the contrary, I remember being mad about it and thinking she was stupid. xD
However, back on topic -
...That's not a Latina. I apologize for typing the majority of my post on something completely off-topic, but... that's all I can say, really. xD -
Disney didn't buy Star Wars. It bought Lucas Arts, which made Star Wars so by default Disney now own Star Wars.
-
Like Nakita said, the Cookie Monster didn't convince me of anything. As a kid (and now too) I would rather eat real food than junk food. And by real food I mean stuff like meat, potatos, friuit, rice, vegetables, food like that. Candy, cake, ice cream, cookies and stuff like that taste good and all, but it's not real food.
Haha, sorry this and my last post have nothing to do with the thread. I just needed to say it, and I've alreade said what I need on the thread topic :P -
This isn't an official Walt Disney movie you guys are talking about. It's more like a Disney Channel movie.
...Just saying.
