I'd like to take this moment and say, don't think of High School cheerleaders when thinking about this subject. Think of these guys and the hell they have to go through to make their bodies do this stuff:
I want you guys to pay close attention to the stunts. One wrong move and those girls'll be taking a trip to the hospital. I'd like to see you guys try doing that without flaw. -
DncrGrl16 NewbieI consider it one! I am a dancer which I consider a sport! And as they say,Cheerleading is the most dangerous SPORT there is.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm biased against cheerleaders, the ones I've met are whiny little bitches but I must say, that was pretty badass, Lizzy.
-
NachozVsCupcakes NoviceI think it is, but it's just pretty annoying because everytime I think of cheerleading, I think of mean snobby girls...
-
TaylorLautnerFan NoviceI think cheerleading is a sport...do you know how much effort and work it takes to be a cheerleader...cheerleaders have to practice 4 times a day and its hard. I was a cheerleader for 3 years and it is fun but hard.

Cheerleading is a sport. Its something you have to tryout for, you MUST practace, and it requires certain skills.
I think anything that requires moving a lot is a sport. -
It most definately is a sport. I would know, because im a cheerleader XD. We have to run laps, too. Once we were talking when we were supposed to be listening, and so one of the coaches took us in the pouring rain and we ran a mile. Also, we have to lift up girls a lot, and moving in the cheers and yelling at the same time is tiring, too.
And for those of you who said that you think of mean snobby girls, I understand why you have that stereotype, but most of us actually arent like that. And the ones who are arent on our squad anymore. XD. And im not like that either! haha -
I cant believe all the stereotypes people have on here...our uniforms go almost down to our knees, and our tops cover our entire stomach. And we wear tanktops underneath just incase. We also dont do anything "slutty", because our team has girls who are 6. Everyone is nice on our squad.

Sports19 NoviceMy opinion? Nope- not a sport and never will be. However, i do agree that it isnt just yelling and all that. I watch the cheerleading practice when im sitting out at soccer practice at school. The lift (forgot what its called, but a couple people lift up one person and that person does stuff in the air) looks kinda fun- and ive tried it before too when i went swimming with a bunch of my friends (most are on the cheerleading team). I was the flyer, and it was kinda cool. I still dont consider it a sport though. Its an activity in my opinion, but i do agree its more than yelling and cheering though. Just not my thing, and never will be

@Sports, at least you dont have any stereotypes about them. XD. Cheer as a sport is more of an opinion.
