  I run a 5:40 mile (I'm a high school girl, and that was technically only the third time I'd run a timed mile), and I don't know if that's any good.

  that's actually very respectable. to do a mile in 5 40 you would have had to maintain an average pace of around 10.6 mph.

  I've been on the track team at school for about two years. But at the meet I ran that time I came in dead last!

  Last time I times it was when I was in either 7th or 8th grade (I can't remember) and it was 6:08.
  
  Brownie, that is impossible. Your mile time would have to be two minutes.

  Correct. My mile time is about two minutes per mile.
