Kori giggled softly and unbuckled, climbing out of the car and fixing her skirt. "It's fine, don't worry- I'd probably be the same way, too, I get rather impatient when I'm hungry," she said with a smile, walking with Oliver towards the entrance of the restaurant and following him inside.
-
Cyril had ended up sitting down at a booth near the center of the restaurant. There were napkins with silverware already placed at the table, along with the restaurant menus. It looked like since it was so early in the morning, the menu they had was limited. Most of the items available were breakfast related, although they did have one or two burger options to choose from. Oliver looked at Kori and sat down next to Cyril, leaving the open side of the booth for her. "So," Cyril started, clapping his hands together. "What do we plan on getting?" Oliver had been here so much as a teenager he ready knew what he wanted. They had a killer mushroom and swiss burger that they kept on the menu, and their fries were to die for. "Same old, same old for me." Oliver said, turning the menu over in his hands and handing it to Cyril. Just as he did so, the waitress walked up to the table.
"Are there any drinks I can get started for you all this morning?" She opened the booklet and had her pen ready. "I'll have Sprite, if you don't mind." The waitress nodded, then looked at Cyril. Cyril thought on it for a moment. "Are you still able to make Graveyards? I know it's super early in the morning, but if you can I would love one." The waitress nodded, and said "You're in luck because I just finished cleaning the machines." She scribbled down both Oliver and Cyrils drinks. "And for you miss?" She looked at Kori, pen ready. -
"Hmm, I'm not sure- what would you guys recommend?" Kori asked as she looked over at Cyril and Oliver, watching them with a small smile. She was always rather indecisive, much preferring to ask what others liked and getting opinions before making a decision, just in case she chose something she didn't end up liking.
-
"Anything you get here is going to be good, but I would suggest their strawberry lemonade." Oliver said, with a sweet smile. "It was hands down one of the best drinks I got here when I was a teenager after those long summer days." He chuckled, glancing at Cyril. Cyril looked at Kori. "Or, you could be bold and get one of there many flavored coffees. They come hot and iced. The Hazelnut flavor is my go to." Cyril picked up his menu, and started to look at it. He was thinking about getting some breakfast, but he wasn't entirely sure yet.
-
"Hmm, I could use a coffee, some caffeine would be nice," Kori Jane said with a smile, nodding as she looked at the menu again. "Now, what to eat, what to eat-" She murmured as she scanned it over, trying to pick out something to eat.
-
The waitress nodded with a smile. "I'll be back in a minute with your drinks." She closed the book, then headed back to go get the drinks. Cyril looked at the menu himself. "I think I'm going to go for breakfast. Nothing is better than a chocolate chip waffle, and some eggs in the morning." He said. putting the menu Oliver had given him behind his own and placing them face up on the table. "What about you Kori? Are you feeling breakfast, or burgers?"
-
"Hmm, I'm not sure- I might do a burger, since I haven't had one in a hot minute," Kori Jane said with a chuckle, tucking strands of hair behind her ear. "Plus, I had eggs for breakfast, so I think I'd prefer to have something more lunch-y to eat."
-
Cyril nodded, and opened his eating utensils that were wrapped up in the napkin. "Not a bad choice. Their burgers are amazing too. Everything here is home-made, which is one of the reasons I like it here. A lot of places always say 'fresh and never frozen', but this place means it." Cyril could already taste the freshly made waffle, with eggs and sausage on the side and it made his stomach rumble.
Before Cyril or Oliver could ask Kori anything else the waitress was back with their drinks. She placed them all down on the table, and in front of each of them she placed down a coaster with the restaurants logo. On top of the coasters she placed everyone's drinks. Cyril's looked the most interesting by far. It was like a mesh of colors had exploded into the cup, and he grinned like a giddy kid. Kori's iced coffee had an ombre effect to it. It started out light on the top, and as it got to the bottom is appeared darker. "I thought you would like the Hazelnut coffer, so I made you that. I hope that was okay." The waitress said, offering a small smile to Kori. "If you don't like it, let me know and I'll switch it out." Last but not least was Oliver's drink. Once they were all placed, the waitress took out her booklet once more. "Ready to order?" She asked. Cyril nodded and handed her the menus that him and Oliver had been using. "I'll do a chocolate chip waffle, with a side of scrambled eggs and two sausage patties." He looked over at Oliver, and give him a little nudge. Oliver perked up for a moment, and looked at the waitress. "I'll have the mushroom swiss burger with a side of seasoned fries please." The waitress nodded as she scribbled all of this down. "And for you miss?" -
"I'd like to try what he's getting- with a side of fries, as well," Kori replied with a small smile, gesturing to Oliver. She took a sip of her drink and lit up a little, smiling as she took another sip. "Mm, this is really good~" She said with a giggle, making a mental note of the drink in hopes to try and make it for herself one day.
-
The waitress finished scribbling down Kori's order and nodded. "It might be a minute, but I'll bring your food out once it's finished." She closed the book that held their ticket once more, and headed back to the kitchen. "So," Cyril looked at Kori. "Other than your dad being the big bad wolf in town, tell us more about yourself. What are your dreams and aspirations?" He leaned in, and took a sip of his drink. It was nice to be here and take a breather for a moment. For now, he was thinking how he could get close to Kori's dad. What would it take to be Jared's right-hand man? He knew getting close to Kori was his first step, but he had to play it safe. One wrong move, one fatal flaw and he'd be wiped from the face of this earth faster than he'd be able to blink.
-
"Oh- well, I- I'm a part time nurse at Saint Laurant Hospital with my mother, since I've always wanted to be a doctor," Kori Jane said with a small smile, tucking strands of hair behind her ear. "I'm still in school, but I'll be graduating at the end of the year, hopefully- and when I'm not working at the hospital, I'm either dancing or writing. I do ballet, and have been doing it since I was very little," she added, taking a sip of her coffee before she started to rip up the wrapper of the straw into small pieces. "I wouldn't say it's my passion, but it's a very fun hobby- writing is more my thing, I think, especially writing stories and poetry~"
-
Cyril nodded and listened intently. He took another sip of his drink, then sat back. He folded his arms across his chest, as Oliver leaned in and looked at her. "What kind of stories and poetry to do write?" He asked, a slight smile tugged at the corner of his lips. If there was anything he enjoyed more than being around Cyril, it was writing. He loved the art-form. When he was younger, other people used to make fun of him for it all of the time. He used to feel guilty because he couldn't draw like others could, but he could spin words together that made you feel like you were stepping into another world. Writing was a way to escape the real world. Throw yourself into characters you wanted to be, and the rest was history. "I like to write myself." He said, fiddling with the napkin that was on the counter.
-
"I mostly just write what I feel, that kind of thing- as for stories, just kind of whatever comes to mind, I suppose? It's kind of hard to explain," Kori Jane replied with an awkward chuckle, tearing up the straw wrapper into small pieces before scooting them into a small pile. "It's nice to get the things in my head out on paper- like word vomit, but you're writing anything and everything down on paper."
-
Oliver nodded. "That makes sense though. Sometimes the best ideas come, then go just as fast. It's best to write something down before it escapes your mind." Oliver took a sip of his drink. It felt refreshing to talk about something that he actually enjoyed. Cyril gave Oliver a quick side-eye, and nudged him under the table. He didn't want Oliver to forget that he was in charge of the conversation. Last thing he needed was to lose his footing with Kori, while Oliver acted like everything was a-okay. Before Cyril could say anything, the waitress was back with both arms filled with their food. "Sorry for the wait. Some things took a bit longer than the others." She said with a simple grin. She placed all three plates on the table, then looked at Cyril, Kori and Oliver. "First we had the two burgers, both came with a side of fries." She placed Kori's plate in front of her, then Oliver's plate in front of him. "Be careful, the fries are fresh so they might be a bit hot."
The waitress then placed Cyrils plate in front of him. "And there is your chocolate chip waffle with the side of scrambled eggs and sausage." She smiled and surveyed the table to see if anything was needed, but all was well. "If you all need anything else, just let me know!" She turned and made her way back to the kitchen. "This food looks, and smells delicious." Cyril said, his mouth watering. He grabbed his fork and knife, then cut himself a piece of his waffle. As he took his first bite, Cyril closed his eyes. "It's like being transported to a spot in heaven, if heaven was centered around waffles." Oliver let out a slight chuckle and took a bite out of his burger. This was hands down one of his favorites, so he knew what he was getting himself into. He nodded in approval, and ate one of the seasoned fries. "Let me know what you think." Oliver said, motioning the the burger that was on Kori's plate. -
Kori giggled softly and nodded, picking up her burger and taking a small bite. Her eyes lit up a little and she smiled, taking another bite. "Wow, this is really good," she said with a giggle, setting her burger down to grab a few fries and eat them. She hummed with content, smiling softly as she took a sip of her coffee. "I haven't had a good burger in a while, this place has really good food~"
