"Relax, I was joking." He paused. "How about this, trust me, and I'll let you go through everything I have in my room. Everything in my backpack, my notebooks, everything. I've got nothing to hide, and it beats winding up a pile of scraps at the bottom of this building."

‘I’ve already gone through your things. Twice. That holds nothing for me,’ Albert said. As a robot, he was incapable of lying, but he didn’t have to tell Sebastian everything. ‘You really don’t want to kill me, huh?’

"It'd get messy trying to explain why you're suddenly gone. Not impossible though, if you're not willing to compromise." He paused. "What would make you willing to trust me?"

‘You cutting off Archibald and never speaking to him again, being a good friend to Vincent and not stealing his inventions.’

Sebastian frowned. "It's not that simple, I can't just leave. You don't know how Archibald is."

‘Whatever. Then I can’t trust you,’ Arthur said, struggling in Sebastian’s hold.

Sebastian glared. "If I quit, I die, Albert. He'd break in and kill all three of us."

‘Then tell Vincent why you’re really here and let him help you instead of taking his inventions.’

"By what? Letting me 'steal' his failed inventions? That's what I'm already trying to do! No use breaking his brain even more."

‘Archibald doesn’t want his failed inventions! If you bring back the failed ones he’ll kill you!’

"Archibald doesn't even know what the successful ones are! Do you want to keep arguing, or would you rather shut up and trust me?!"

Albert watched him for a few moments. ‘Vincent deserves to know why you’re really here.’

"Fine. I'll tell him when the time is right." Richard figured it wasn't a lie if he just made sure the time was never right.

‘No, you’ll go and tell him when you put me back down.’

"No, I'll tell him once his mind is right for it. Have you seen him? This would break him."
