“Good, c’mon,” George squeezed his hand, inhaling dramatically again.
-
Clay inhaled and exhaled deeply, closing his eyes as he calmed down more. He let go of his shirt and rested his hands on his lap, still tugging at the sleeve of his shirt.
-
“Now, you don’t have to tell me anything, but I’m here to listen,” George whispered.
-
Clay exhaled shakily and squeezed his eyes shut, tears welling up. He rolled up his sleeve with a trembling hand, revealing the wraps on his arm. “I-I’m so sorry, I- I didn’t mean to-“
-
George glanced down, frowning. “Oh- honey, why didn’t you call me?” He whispered, moving a hand to rub Clay’s back.
-
“I- I don’t deserve y-your pity,” Clay spoke shakily, tears rolling down his cheeks. “I-I’m so sorry, I- I know I sh-shouldn’t have-“
-
“Honey, this isn’t pity, I promise,” George said softly, wrapping Clay into a hug. “My heart feels for you- and I’m so sorry you felt the need to hurt yourself.”
-
Clay leaned into George, sobbing quietly as he buried his face in his shoulder. “I-I’m so sorry,” he continued muttering, his voice shaking and his hands trembling.
-
“There’s nothing for you to be sorry about, Clay,” George said gently, holding his boyfriend tight.
-
Clay let out a choked sob, burying his face in George’s shoulder.
-
“Breathe, honey, it’s okay,” George said softly, stroking Clay’s head.
-
Clay leaned into George’s touch, taking deep breaths to try and calm down. “Please- please d-don’t tell anyone about th-this- I-If my mom kn-knew, she’d- I- I don’t even know wh-what she’d do-“
-
“I- I won’t, I won’t, but-“ George sighed quietly, holding Clay close. “Please- please tell me when you feel like doing this again. You’re not alone in this struggle-“
-
“I- I will, I promise-“ Clay spoke shakily, nodding quickly. “I-I’m sorry, please- please don’t be m-mad-“
-
“No, honey, I’m not mad at you, I promise,”George said softly, pressing a kiss on top of Clay’s head. “I know where you’re coming from- and it’s hard, I know.”
