“Clay, come with me-“ His mother said, standing from her spot at the table. -
“Uh- Okay?” Clay spoke nervously, glancing over at his dad, who gave him a concerned look before looking over at his wife. “Hun, dinner’s about to start, are you sure this can’t wait until later-“

“No,” She said, glaring at her husband before heading towards the door.

Clay gave his dad a panicked look before standing, quickly following after his mother.

The mother led him down the hall to her office - not too far. They got in there, and Clay’s coffee shop manager was sitting in there and stood once they came in.

“Morgan- What- What’re you doing here?” Clay asked, a confused expression on his face.

“Um- your mother-“ They paused, getting a look from the queen. “I- I’m sorry to let you know, but- I have to let you go, Clay. I’m sorry-“

“Uh- What, are you serious??” Clay said, giving his mother an annoyed glare. “Seriously, are you f---ing with me??”

“Don’t look at me,” His mother said, crossing her arms. “You did this to yourself-“

“What do you mean, I-“ Clay paused, remembering what he told his mother with a groan. “Just because I’m gay does not mean you have to tell my manager I have to give in my two weeks notice!”

“Your words, not mine-“ The queen said, glaring at her son. “And she said that they were firing you, not letting you out in your two weeks notice-“ “Well-“ “Not another word.”

“God, you’re gone insane,” Clay said, shaking his head. “Fine- I’ll just get another job somewhere else, not like that’s gonna change anything.”

“No, you’re working for your father and I, and that’s all,” His mother said, crossing her arms.

“FINE, whatever,” Clay said, sighing as he rubbed his temples. “Can I leave? I’m starving-“

“Yes, you may,” She said, uncrossing her arms and clasping her hands together with a smug, triumphant smile.
