“Huh, okay,” Nick said with a chuckle, shrugging. “Get it, I guess.”

Karl giggled, watching Nick with a lovesick grin. He took another bite of his ice cream, humming softly.

“What’s your favorite animal?” Nick asked, looking up from his ice cream.

“Foxes maybe,” Karl replied, smiling. “They’re so cute, snd they make such funny noises~”

“No for real,” Nick said with a chuckle, turning a little to face Karl. “So goofy, bro.”

“They’re literally so adorable, though~” Karl said with a smile, giggling.

“They are, I agree, I agree,” Nick said with a chuckle.

Karl giggled softly, leaning against the center console a little. He stared at his ice cream for a moment, zoning out as he began to lose his appetite. He forced himself to take another bite, hugging his legs to his chest.

“You good?” Nick asked, taking another bite of his nice cream.

“Yeah just uhm, I don’t think I can eat the rest of this,” Karl murmured softly, staring at his ice cream.

“Okay,” Nick nodded. “I’ll have it if you don’t want it.”

Karl didn’t reply, just staring at his ice cream in hand.

“Karl?” Nick said leaning over and gently grabbing the cup from his hands. “You’re okay. You did really well.”

Karl exhaled shakily, nodding. “I’m sorry-“

“There’s no need to be sorry, It’s okay,” Nick said quietly, scooping the rest of Karl’s ice cream into his almost finished cup and mixing it together.
