Karl nodded, running a hand through his hair. He picked up his phone again, staring at the messages to one of his bosses for a moment before turning his phone off with a sigh.
-
Nick came back in a few moments later, a pair of crutches in his hand. “Here you go. Did you bring anything else that you want me to grab?”
-
“Uh, no- I mean, I was kind of unconscious, so how could I?” Karl joked, chuckling softly as he took the crutches and moved off the bed. He exhaled softly, steadying himself.
-
“Alright,” Nick said with a chuckle, slowly heading to the door. “I already checked you out, so we’re free to go-“
-
Karl nodded, following Nick out of the room. “Thank God I can leave- Hospitals always kinda weird me out,” Karl said softly, walking with Nick.
-
“Wow, is it because of me?” Nick said with a chuckle, starting down the hallway slowly.
-
“Yeah, hate to break it to you~” Karl teased, giggling softly. “Nah, they just- give me the heebie jeebies, honestly.”
-
Nick chuckled, shrugging a little. “That’s fair. I used to have that- but when you basically live here it gets easier.”
-
“That makes sense,” Karl said with a chuckle, nodding. “I mean, honestly, hospitals are pretty cool- It’s like, all those liminal spaces videos of old, abandoned hospitals that weird me out,” he added, giggling softly.
-
“Mm, fair,” Nick said with a nod. “But no need to worry- this is not an abandoned hospital-“
-
“Nah, really? I couldn’t tell~” Karl teased, looking around at the other nurses, doctors and patients in the hall.
-
“Yeah, believe it or not,” Nick said with a chuckle, opening up one of the exit doors and holding it open for Karl.
-
“Why, thank you, good sir~” Karl said with a giggle, exiting the door. He almost toppled forward as one of the crutches hit the door frame, but he steadied himself quickly. “Jesus Christ- Guess I need to be a bit more careful, huh~?”
-
Nick jumped forward a bit, chuckling awkwardly. “Yeah, seriously dude. Please don’t do anything stupid on my watch-“
-
“Sorry, that was my bad~” Karl said, giggling softly. “Well, technically it was the door frame’s fault, but I’ll let it slide,” he added, giggling some more.
