“I also have some people I can hook up with you or some people,” Nick said with a shrug.

Karl nodded, not replying as he continued texting his bosses.

“I promise, I’ve seen people come back from this kind of stuff,” Nick said softly.

“I just can’t risk anything, I need to get out of this house,” Karl spoke quietly, exhaling softly as he set his phone down on his lap.

“That- that brings me to another thing,” Nick said softly. “You need someone to monitor you and your knee for the four weeks.”

“And who’s gonna do that?” Karl asked curiously, furrowing his brows a little. “My mom’s got work most of the day and my dad- God, he doesn’t need to be taking care of me, he has enough to worry about…”

“You could ask a friend, or a distant family member or a neighbor-“ Nick absentmindedly went through the list, looking back at the computer.

“I don’t have any family close, and both my closest friends have their own stuff to deal with, I- I don’t want to burden anyone,” Karl murmured softly, hugging his arms to his chest. He exhaled softly, staring blankly at his lap.

“I- I mean,” Nick paused, pursing his lips as he typed something into the computer before spinning to face him. “I’ve got a free room in my house right now, and a bunch of free time outside of school and work. Which isn’t a lot, but hey, I’m lonely.”

Karl smiled a little, meeting Nick’s eyes. “Really? You’d do that for me?” He asked softly, running a hand through his hair.

Nick shrugged, looking back at his computer. “I mean, I wouldn’t deny anyone help, y’know? Also, you’d be helping me get some practice in-“

Karl smiled, nodding. “Yeah, that- That sounds great~” He said with a chuckle, crossing his arms over his chest.

Nick smiled a little, nodding. “Alright, so when I get off my shift, will go get everything set up for you…” he said, typing something onto the computer. “And I’ll give you a ride home.”

“Alright,” Karl replied with a smile, nodding. “Thank you, again~” He spoke softly, watching Nick with a small smile.

“Yeah, of course,” Nick said with a small smile, watching the computer screen. “Also- since you’ll be with me for so long I will not be cleaning the house for you- sorry,” he added, chuckling.
