Jared nodded, nuzzling his face into Liam’s neck.

Liam held him close.

“Hey mom!” Liam said, letting go of Jared and running to hug his mom. -
Jared let go of Liam and followed him over, lagging behind a little.

“Hi, honey~” Liam’s mom said with a smile, stumbling back slightly as her son tacked her with a hug. “I missed you so much-“ “I miss you too honey,” she said, hugging him close for a moment before seeing Jared and letting him go. “Oh, Jared, hi hun- how was your summer?” She said with a smile, moving to hug the boy.

“It was good,” Jared said with a small smile, nodding as he hugged Liam’s mom. “I uh, I dunno if my mom texted you, but she said that she couldn’t come get me, and my dad’s on a work trip, so- Can I get a ride with you guys?”

“Oh, yeah, of course, hun,” Liam’s mom said with a soft smile, pulling away a little bit keep a hand on Jared’s arm. “I mean- I probably should’ve just suggested that since we live so close together anyways.”

Jared chuckled, nodding. “Something just, came up, I guess,” he spoke softly, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Yeah, I bet,” Liams mom said softly, watching Jared for a moment. “Y’know, Jared, just because your mom and dad and usually busy doesn’t mean they don’t love you, okay? I’m sorry this stuff always happens. though.”

“No, I- I know they do,” Jared replied, forcing a small smile onto his face. I know at least my dad cares… He exhaled, looking around for a moment. “Guess I should go say goodbye to Michael really quick-“

“Okay, yeah,” Liams mom said with a sympathetic smile, stepping away. “Liam, you go too-“ “Yeah, yeah, I’m going,” Liam said with a smile, offering his hand to Jared as they started to walk.

Jared looked over at Liam then glanced back at his mom, hesitantly taking his hand. He relaxed a little, gently squeezing his hand as they walked over to where Michael sat beside Jeremy. “Is your brother here yet, Michael?” “No, obviously- If he were here, we’d be gone~” Michael joked, chuckling softly as he stood up. He wrapped his arms around Jared, hugging him. “Gah, I’m gonna miss you, dude~”

“We’ll see each other next year-“ Liam said, letting go of Jared’s hand as the two hugged.

“I know, I know,” Michael said, sighing. “I’ll miss you too, dude~” He said, offering Liam a hug after he let go of Jared.

“I’ll miss you too,” Liam said with a small smile, hugging Michael back.

Michael smile, letting go of Liam after a few moments. “So, you- you’ve got the whole situation sorted out, right?” He asked Jared, resting a hand on his shoulder. “Yeah, Evan’s already talked to some people about it,” Jared spoke quietly, crossing his arms over his chest.
