“I don’t wanna go home-“ Jared spoke shakily, his hands trembling. “I- I can’t go back to church, I- f---,” he muttered, exhaling as he paced back and forth in front of the parking lot outside of the camp. -
“Jared- Evan said something, it’s gonna be fine,” Liam said softly, trying to keep up with Jared.

“What am I gonna tell my mom?! She- She’s never gonna f---ing believe me, Liam-“ Jared stopped, turning around to face Liam. “I don’t know what to do,” he said shakily, rubbing his face with his hands.

“I don’t- She doesn’t need to know,” Liam said softly. “I’m pretty sure it stayed anonymous-“

Jared exhaled shakily, hugging onto Liam. “I don’t wanna do back, what- what if it happens again…”

“It won’t, I’ll protect you-“ Liam said softly. “I promise-“

Jared nodded, clinging to his boyfriend. He exhaled softly, burying his face in his chest.

“Yeah, I’ll- I’ll- I dunno, I’ll ditch youth group with you or something,” Liam said, chuckling quietly.

“No, no, don’t ditch youth group just because of me,” Jared said, exhaling softly.

“I don’t wanna go if you’re not there,” Liam said with a frown. “Or if Pastor Matthew is there.”

“But the rest of the group- What’ll Caleb say? Won’t he get worried why we aren’t showing up for group?” Jared asked as he lifted his head, thinking about their group leader.

“Uh- maybe? But it’s really none of his business,” Liam shrugged.

Jared exhaled shakily, curling closer to Liam.

Liam held him close, rubbing his back.
