“Pfft- Do you not remember high school, babe?” Connor asked, chuckling softly as he held his hand out for Evan to take. “What happened?”

“Ugh- don’t remind me-“ Evan whined, taking Connor’s hand. “Well- I found Liam and Jared cuddling, first of all. And then Jared freaked out about being gay or something. And then we went on a hike, my poor ass, y’know? And Jared had a panic attack, spilt his guts about being assaulted, which, I have to report, and I’m so nervous to- and then he and Liam started dating-“

“Jesus Christ, that was a loaded sentence- Wait, he was assaulted? Holy s---,” Connor said, eyes wide. “When- When did this happen?”

“It- like, less than a year ago, I think?” Evan said hesitantly as they pulled into the parking lot. “And it was his f---ing pastor- like, that’s so f---ing sad.”

“Oh my f---ing God- Yeah, that’s really f---ing sad, s----“ Connor said, exhaling softly. “Damn, that’s awful-“ He paused, thinking for a moment before smirking. “Wait, and you said him and his friend were cuddling? Wait, wait, wait, are these the two you told me about the first day~?” He asked, chuckling softly.

“Yeah, the ones who hold hands all the time and stuff,” Evan said with a small smile.

“f---, and now they’re dating? That’s adorable~“ Connor said with a chuckle, rubbing the back of Evan’s hand with his thumb. “Wait, then who was asking me for advice on how to ask out a guy?”

“Oh, my God. That was Michael,” Evan said with a chuckle. “There’s another kid, Jeremy, who’s Michael’s best friend. And there’s obviously some chemistry, and Michael likes Jeremy. So he’s asking him out tommorow.”

“Aww, that’s f---in’ cute,” Connor said, chuckling softly. “Well, hopefully my advice wasn’t s--- or anything-“

“Nah, it was probably better than mine or his friends,” Evan said with a chuckle. “We were basically just messing around.”

“Well, that’s good to hear,” Connor said with a chuckle. He stayed quiet for a moment, thinking. “God, I- I can’t believe something like that happened to him, like- And at a f---ing church, too-“

“Yeah, I know,” Evan said quietly. “It’s actually awful. Liam goes to the same church too, so he’s kinda stunned.”

“I’d be f---ing shocked too, like-“ Connor exhaled softly, running his free hand through his hair. “I hope everything gets sorted out.”

“Yeah, I’ve gotta talk to my higher-ups about it,” Evan said softly, unbuckling.

Connor nodded and unbuckled as well, turning in his seat to face Evan. “I mean, wouldn’t that have to be something you talked to his parents about? Or like, someone at his church? If it happened there, that might make the most sense-“
