“Mm, not really, but thank you,” Briar murmured with a small smile, shrugging.
-
Lawrence huffed. The two got to the throne room. ‘You were an amazing ruler.’
-
“I really wasn’t,” Briar replied with a tired chuckle, looking over to see Lucinda and another woman standing talking. “Lucinda!” The redhead looked over, smiling warmly. “Briar, Lawrence, hello!”
(i have a terrible migraine rn :’)) -
Lawrence looked at Lucinda. ‘Hello.’
(I feel you man, I’m so tired rn lol) -
(literally feel like i’m dying rn but it’s fiiine :’))
“Are you ready for tonight?” Briar asked, smiling at Lucinda. The redhead smiled, nodding. “So excited, and totally ready. Especially now that Melissa’s here~” They wrapped their arm around the brunette’s waist. She giggled, leaning against their side. “I cannot wait to see the look on your father’s face when we go up together~” Briar laughed, nodding, “It’ll be priceless, that’s for sure~” -
(Damn that sucks man :’))
Lawrence smiled, watching the two talk. He looked around and his happy expression faded, his face paling as he set eyes on two people, an older man and woman. ‘f---,’ he muttered, looking around. ‘I-I’ll be right back,’ he whispered to Briar shakily, turning around and hurrying to the door. -
“Wh- Wait, where are you going, love?” Briar asked, watching Lawrence run off. He exhaled softly, a worried look on his face as he turned back to Lucinda. “If you wanna go make sure he’s okay, by all means, go,” they spoke with a smile, taking Briar’s hand and gently squeezing it. “He did say he’d be right back,” Briar murmured, exhaling softly as he glanced back at the door. “I- I’m sure he’ll be okay, you said you needed to talk to me, anyways. I’m- I’m sure he’ll find me if he needs me,” he added, a hint of worry lacing his voice.
-
‘LAWRENCE WILSON!’ a middle aged lady shouted. It echoed through the room. Lawrence froze.
The woman dragged her husband towards Lawrence and grabbed him by the hair. ‘I swear to god, Lawrence-‘ -
Briar flinched at the woman’s shouting, seeing her walk over to Lawrence. Oh God- “I’ll- I’ll be right back,” he said to Lucinda, quickly rushing over to Lawrence and the other people. “Hello~”
-
Lawrence had averted his gaze to his shoes. The woman looked at Briar, scowling. ‘Who the f--- are you?’ she snapped, tugging Lawrence’s hair.
-
“I believe I have more authority in the matter, as acting king,” Briar spoke with a calm voice, grabbing the woman’s hand and pulling it off of Lawrence’s hair. “Might I ask who you are?”
-
Lawrence winced, shuffling away from the woman and behind Briar. ‘I am former queen of Equimor and Lawrence’s mother,’ she snapped, glaring at Briar. The man stayed mostly silent.
-
“I see,” Briar spoke with a short nod, watching the woman. “And why, may I ask, did it look like you were man-handling your own son?”
-
Lawrence’s mother narrowed her eyes at Briar. ‘Lawrence,’ she said in a dangerous tone. ‘Come here and we’ll talk about this outside.’
Lawrence whimpered and buried his face in Briae’s shoulder. -
“I’m afraid he can’t do that at this time, ma’am,” Briar spoke, gently grabbing Lawrence’s hand, “considering he is a grown man and does not have to take orders from even his own mother, if he chooses not to.”
