“Thanks,” Nick said, watching Karl walk off. -
(am back for a bit! my dad's also got rehearsals for sunday morning so i'm stuck at my church for abt an hour i'm guessing lol)
Karl giggled softly to himself, smiling as he walked into the kitchen. "What's got you all smiley?" Alex asked as he followed Karl into the kitchen, chuckling. "It's that guy I told you about, the one with the long-ish, dark hair?" Karl said, smiling as he gave the order to one of the cooks. "He's here~" "Ah, so that's why I'm stuck back here still," Alex said, nodding shortly. "Yeah, sorry- I just wanted to see him again," Karl said with an apologetic grin, going and making Nick's drink. "And guess what? He's single now~" -

"Really? That fast, huh?" Alex said as Karl turned with the drink in hand. "Mhm- I wanna ask him out, or at least see if we could talk after my shift's done, but like- Would that sound too weird? I mean, we've only ever talked twice-" He spoke, exiting the kitchen. "I think you should try, shoot your shot, dude," Alex said with a smile, nudging his friend. Karl thought for a moment before nodding, smiling at Alex before walking back to Nick's table. "Here's your drink~" He said with a smile, setting down the cup and a straw. -

“Thanks,” Nick said with a soft smile, shutting his phone off to try and stop himself from looking at the hate he was getting. He took the drink, taking a sip. -
"Uhm, if- if you don't mind me asking, what happened with you and your ex?" Karl asked softly, lingering for a moment.

“Oh, uh, I broke it off,” Nick said softly, his eyes slightly downcast. “She accused my best friend of some drama he didn’t do, and then she admitted- some stuff,” he said with an awkward chuckle, looking up.

"f---, that's such a b----y thing of her-" Karl said with a frown, crossing his arms. "I'm really sorry you had to go through that."

“Yeah, it’s okay,” Nick said with a soft, sad smile. “I really should’ve listened to you, I missed massive red flags-“

"Hey, it's not your fault- Love makes you blind, you see everything in rose-colored glasses," Karl spoke, leaning against the empty table behind him. "You're definitely not the only one who's gotten into s---ty relationships and didn't realize until later-"

“Yeah, real,” Nick said with a chuckle, nodding.

"I'm sorry you had to deal with that, though," Karl spoke softly, sighing a little. "Well uhm, I better get back to work- I'll be back with your food soon~"

“Yeah, thanks,” Nick said with a soft smile. “What’s your name, by the way? I don’t think I’ve caught it the few times you’ve said it-“

"My name's Karl," the brunette said, smiling. "And- I can't remember if you told me yours or not," he said, giggling softly.

“Oh! Sorry, it’s Nick,” Nick said with a small smile, nodding.

Karl smiled, nodding. "Nice to meet you, Nick~" Karl spoke with a smile, offering his hand to shake Nick's.
