“No, I did ‘t really have any reason to, so I just stayed in class,” Adrienne replied, shrugging.

"that's good. It means less homework in these folders." Octavia said as she put her green folder into her bag.

“True,” Adrienne replied, chuckling as they grabbed the folder and opened it.

"anyways, soon your grades should shoot right into C's, maybe even B's. The minute you turn all this in it'll be like turning a new page." Octavia said

“Cool, yeah,” Adrienne replied with a nod, yawning. “f---, I’m exhausted,” they muttered, leaning against the table and starting on their work.

Octavia took out her notebook and started writing down fun facts about whale biology. She drew a whale heart beside it.

Adrienne hummed softly as they continued to do their work, yawning again.

Octavia took an mp3 player out of her bag with a set of cheap earbuds. She was allowed to bring these things to school today because she was walking. Octavia stuck the left earbud in her ear. Only the left one worked. She started writing down all of her favorite songs in the notebook because she was thinking about it.

Adrienne glanced over at Octavia, watching her for a moment. “Whatcha listening to?”

"I'm listening to step on me by the cardigans. I know it sounds weird but it's not weird trust me. People name songs weird things all the time." Octavia said over explaining her music. It was, in fact, a fairly normal song with a name that could be misinterpreted by people.

“Ooh, The Cardigans, we love,” Adrienne said, nodding. “I’ve been listening to Weezer a good bit recently, my favorite song is Say It Ain’t So.”

"oh, I like some of their songs. I think my favorite is buddy Holly. I don't listen to that one in public though because when people hear through my earbuds they start randomly asking me questions then walking off laughing." Octavia said

“True, honestly,” Adrienne said with a chuckle, nodding. “I like Billy Joel as well, his music’s good.”

"ooo, I love uptown girl! I also really like Pink. I almost got to go to her concert once." Octavia said. Octavia could almost feel her own exhaustion from the day melting away as she talked about music with Adrienne

“Ooh, Pink used to be my childhood,” Adrienne said, chuckling softly. “I also used to be a huge Billie Eilish fan, like of her old stuff, but I really like her new album best, now~”
