'It's okay, promise. We can if you want,' Hazel said quietly, not answering the second part. She wasn't sure how she felt about Max.

Max nodded. "Yes, please."

Hazel gave a weak smile. 'Alright. I'll see you later?'

"Yeah, see you."

Hazel gave a small wave and walked out.

Max watched as she left before shutting the door, sighing. He f---ed up.

Hazel sighed as she walked down the path, rubbing her face with her hands.

Max turned on an Marvel movie so he could focus over the CRAPPY MOVIE THAT IS ETERNALS instead of him screwing up that badly.

Hazel walked back to her apartment. She pulled out her phone to check her texts, trying not to think back to Max.

"What'd you do?" Jackie asked, sitting up once he saw her.

'Hung out with Max. C'mon, do you want to go get some bread?'

Jackie nodded, standing up. "What'd you guys do?"

'Just watched a movie,' Hazel said, slipping her phone back in her pocket. 'Does Lilla want to come? Or does dad want us to babysit Ally too?'

Jackie shrugged. "I earned my bread, let ME have bread. Just me."
