“Unless you want to be in pain and possibly risk it getting worse, not really,” Hannah said, exhaling. “I know you don’t want to, but it’s for your own good.” Connor nodded, gently squeezing Evan’s hand.
-
Evan tried to take a deep breath, gripping his thigh to try and stop his hand from shaking. “Okay, I get it. Would I have to go today, or?”
-
“I think it’d be best to go today, get it out of the way,” Hannah spoke, nodding. Connor watched the brunette, rubbing the back of his hand with his thumb.
-
Evan sighed, nodding. “Okay, let’s go, then. Can we just do that? Show up?”
-
“Well, since I work there, I can get you in without any sort of appointment- There may be a bit of a wait, depending on how busy it is,” Hannah replied, resting a hand on Evan’s back, “but I’ll try and get you in as soon as possible.”
-
Evan nodded, smiling awkwardly at Hannah. “Okay, thank you.”
-
Hannah nodded and stood, walking out of the room. Connor watched Evan, rubbing his hand with his thumb. “You okay, hun?”
-
“No,” Evan whispered, staring at the floor. “I really don’t want my parents to know about this.”
-
“I know, but I think you’re gonna have to tell them sooner or later,” Connor replied softly, pressing a kiss on Evan’s cheek. “I don’t know why they’d be upset with you, though, considering you’re the one who’s got hurt-“
-
“Well, they’d probably be mad because hospital visits cost a lot, y’know,” Evan said, sighing. “And, I told them the reason why I jumped out of the tree and they think I did it for attention, so it’ll probably be the same with this.”
-
“Uh- Those f---ing b----es-“ Connor stopped himself, covering his mouth. “Sorry, sorry- But like, Jesus, that’s not okay, Ev. How- how could they even say that??”
-
Evan shrugged, chuckling softly at Connor’s outburst. “I did a lot of stuff for attention when I was younger, and they don’t think I’ve stopped. I don’t really blame them, though, I was a b---- when I was younger.”
-
“I’m sure you weren’t as bad as me- God, I did some crazy s---, especially when I was angry,” Connor said awkwardly, chuckling softly. “Once, when I was in elementary school, I uhm, I threw a printer at my teacher just because I didn’t get to be the line leader,” he admitted, an embarrassed grin on his face.
-
Evan paused, turning to look at Connor with a flabbergasted look on his face before giggling. “How the hell- I can barely pick up a printer now, how could you pick one up and throw it in third grade??”
-
“It was fifth grade, actually,” Connor replied with a chuckle, running a hand through his hair. “I was just- upset. Really upset. I still get like that sometimes, but I- I’m working on it.”
