(ooo okay nice nice lol)
Nick was sitting out in his car, just outside the animal rescue place. He had been doing a lot of research to find another animal to rescue, and he heard that this place hadn’t had many adoptions for older and disabled animals recently. So he was going to check it out, see what animals he could rescue. Maybe even volunteer a little. -
(it's my lunch lol
also my dog's whining like he needs to go out, but it's raining and he doesn't like the rain- idk what he wants lol)
Karl hummed as he sat at the counter, leaning back in his chair as he scrolled through his phone. The rescue center wasn't normally busy around this time so he figured he could relax. He chuckled, watching a funny video that popped up. -
(awww poor baby 😭
he just wants you to stop the rain 🥺🙏 lol)
Nick eventually hopped out of his car, his phone in hand. He walked up to the front door, walking in and towards the front desk. “Hello?” He said, hoping to ask a few questions before he looked at any of the animals. -
(xD pretty much)
Karl jumped when he heard a voice, almost falling out of his chair. "MOTHERF-" He steadied himself, exhaling. He looked over, seeing the raven haired guy standing at the counter. "H-Hi! How can I help you?" He asked, smiling awkwardly. Great first start, Karl, he muttered, folding his hands in his lap. -
Nick hesitated, shocked at the brunettes reaction. “Sorry for scaring you,” he chuckled quietly, “But I’d like to adopt an animal, but I’m just wondering what the process would be like?”
-
"That's great to hear!" Karl said with a smile, turning to his laptop. "It's a pretty simple process, the most annoying part is the paper work," he added, opening up a website and typing in a few things.
-
Nick nodded. “Okay, good. And, I’m looking to adopt disabled animals, or animals that have been here the longest, or both. Could you show me what animals those are?”
-
"Yeah, actually," Karl said with a nod, closing the laptop. "Most of them are with our foster volunteers, but some of them should be coming back soon, since they only can foster them for a few weeks at a time."
-
Nick nodded again. “Alright, that sounds good. Are there any here today that I could meet?”
-
"Yeah, we've got a few in the back," Karl said with a nod, standing and walking over to a door. He opened it and gestured for Nick to come inside, following him in after. The animals inside the room perked up, noise filling the room. Karl giggled, shaking his head. "I know y'all think it's time for food, but y'all just ate," he spoke to the animals, walking through. "We take in many different animals, mostly ones that either get dropped off here or that we find out in the streets, abandoned by their last owners."
-
Nick nodded, smiling at all the animals. “How long have most of these been in here?”
-
"A lot of these ones have been here for a few months, a few have been hear for almost a year," Karl replied, sighing. "And it really sucks, because they're all such sweethearts. They've been through foster family after foster family, but had no luck finding anyone who wants to adopt them."
-
Nick nodded. “You guys aren’t at capacity, right?”
-
"No, but we're getting close," Karl answered with a frown, crossing his arms over his chest. "We go get people coming it to adopt, but not super often or anything."
