“Yeah,” Nick said with a chuckle, strugfling to keep his eyes open as he glanced over to Milo, who was still hanging out on his lap. -

Karl hummed as he curled close to Nick in his tired daze, resting his head on the ravenette's shoulder. "I've missed this," he muttered in a quiet voice, not realizing that he meant to keep that to himself. -

Nick furrowed his eyebrows, feeling more awake in his confusion. He inched away from Karl, lifting his head. “Missed what?” -

Karl froze, his face turning red. "I- I mean, uhm- f---, I- I don't know why I said that," he replied with a nervous chuckle, sitting up. (i talked abt it in my vent thread, and i'll be adding more,
but basically someone made a google doc talking abt how they think shubble is lying (at least to some degree) abt wilbur abusing her, and i just- idk who to believe at this point-)

Nick narrowed his eyes, watching Karl for a moment. “Okay.. I think I’m gonna head home.” -
Great, I've f---ed up, haven't I? "Oh," Karl said, disappointment seeping into his voice. Not because Nick wanted to leave, but because he couldn't bring himself to tell him the truth. "No, that's- that fair," he added, chuckling sadly, hugging his legs to his chest. "I'm sorry if I weirded you out..."

“You’re okay,” Nick said quietly, gently picking up Milo and moving him off of his lap. He stood, messing up his hair a little bit before heading to the door. “I’ll see you tommorow at the shop? I’ll uh.. talk to my manager about your art.” -
