"Anyway." Ernie said quickly. "Finished cutting up the potatoes."

‘Thanks,’ Mahina said. She put three halves on each plate then set both dishes on the table.

Ernest sat down in one of the seats.

Mahina sat down next to him, setting cutlery on thr table.

Ernie grabbed a fork. "Thanks." He smiled.

Mahina nodded and started eating.

Ernest started eating as well.

Mahina smiled. ‘The potatoes are good.’

"Thanks, so are the sausages." Ernie smiled.

‘Good.’

Ernest nodded, eating more.

Mahina continued eating as well. She wondered if Ernest was thinking of her differently. If he was scared of her, or purposely being more cautious

He wasn't, besides making a mental note to never, ever get on her bad side, just in case she turned on him. He also made a mental note to try and see if there were more books he could read about witches so he wasn't completely clueless. He doubted he could though, they were pretty taboo.

Mahina was silent. She finished her meal after a bit.
