‘Hello, Ernest!’ the man said. Mahina walked into the room. Her uncle was painting… something.

Ernie followed, waving. "Hi!" He said, smiling.

Mahina’s uncle didn’t look up. ‘I see you’ve found Gloria, Nina!’ he said.

Gloria barked happily, her tail wagging super fast.

Mahina chuckled. ‘Yup.’

Ernie chuckled, looking at the uncle. "What's his name?" He whispered to Mahina.

‘Orion,’ Mahina whispered back.

"Thanks." Ernest said, smiling.

Mahina nodded. A big brown dog emerged from behind the sofa. ‘Hello, Finn,’ she cooed.

"Will you like me?" Ernie asked, trying to pet Finn. "Please?"

Finn barked.

"Is that a yes?" Ernest asked hopefully.

Finn barked again. ‘Finn, shush!’ Orion chuckled.

"None of your dogs like me." Ernie chuckled, still trying to pet Finn. It didn't go well.

‘Oh, they just don’t like strangers. Or redheads,’ Orion laughed. He hadn’t even looked at Ernest yet.
